Pokémon Card Game: How To Play DS (Japanese:ポケモンカードゲーム あそびかたDSPokémon Card Game: How To Play DS) is a game which focuses on teaching players how to play thePokémon Trading Card Game. TheBeginning Set was rereleased on August 5, 2011, which contained the same cards as the September 2010 Beginning Set, but came with this game.

It has tutorials and a digital rulebook. After the player has completed all the tutorials, there are five different CPU characters to play against.

  1. ポケモンカードゲーム?Pokémon Card Game? — This tutorial introduces the main character, シユン Shun, and his friend ナナミ Nanami. Nanami introduces Shun to the Pokémon Trading Card Game and basic concepts like playing field layout,Coins, Damage Counters, and the like.
  2. バト ルしよ う!Try To Battle! — A guided tutorial of Shun's first battle with Nanami. They both use the Tepig Half Deck from theBeginning Set. The tutorial guides the player through setup of a match and introducesActive Pokémon,Benched Pokémon,Prize Cards,Energy cards and attacking.
  3. 進化だ!It's Evolution! — Nanami teaches Shun aboutevolving Pokémon andretreating. As in the previous tutorial, they both use the Tepig Half Deck.
  4. トレーナーズカードTrainer Card — Nanami teaches Shun aboutTrainer cards. They both use the Tepig Half Deck.
  5. 弱点?Weaknesses? — Shun learns aboutWeakness andResistance. Shun uses the Oshawott Half Deck.
  6. 特殊状態Special Condition — Shun learns aboutSpecial Conditions. Shun uses the Snivy Half Deck.
  7. 特性Special characteristic — Shun learns aboutAbilities. Shun uses the Tepig Half Deck.
  8. ちからをためすとき!Time to test your strength! — Shun uses the Tepig Half Deck.
  9. サポート カード!Support Card! — Shun learns aboutSupporter cards. Shun uses the Snivy Half Deck.
