PokéNav

ThePokémon Navigator (Japanese:ポケモンナビゲーターPokémon Navigator), more often referred to asPokéNav (Japanese:ポケナビPokéNavi), is an electronic device found inHoenn. It was produced by theDevon Corporation under the orders ofMr. Stone, who wanted to find a way to keep track of a Pokémon's feelings.
InPokémon Ruby, Sapphire, andEmerald, Mr. Stone gives theplayer one as a reward for recovering theDevon Goods fromTeam Aqua orTeam Magma. They appear to be small, compact-disc-shaped devices. It was introduced inGeneration III. Similar devices are thePokégear, thePokétch, and theC-Gear.
InPokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the PokéNav is replaced by thePokéNav Plus and is accessible from the start of the game.
They are chiefly useful forTrainers to contact and re-battle other Trainers, as well as forCoordinators to keep track of a Pokémon's status forContests.

Trainer's Eyes
- Main article:List of Trainer's Eye Trainers
InRuby and Sapphire, the PokéNav will keep track of 69 unique Trainers and alert the user when they want arematch. The only requirement is that the player must have obtained five Badges first. It also has information onGym Leaders andPokémon League members, though they cannot be battled through this function.
After obtaining theBalance Badge, if the player is on a map with eligible Trainers, each Trainer on the map has a separate 31% chance to be ready for a rematch after 255 steps taken. This 255 step counter is only reset if one (or more) of the eligible Trainers did get the 31% chance triggered and is now ready for a rematch. Should no Trainer be ready for a rematch after the 255 steps simply reloading the current map (by e.g. exiting the current Route and re entering it) will reroll the 31% chance. This can be repeated until a Trainer is ready for a rematch.
Match Call
- Main article:List of Trainer's Eye Trainers
InPokémon Emerald, the Trainer's Eyes function is replaced by the Match Call function. In addition to the features of the Trainer's Eyes, Match Call allows its user to call anyone who has had their PokéNav registered with the user, similar to the cell-phone feature of thePokégear. An advantage that the Match Call has over Trainer's Eyes is that after any of the unique Trainers are defeated, they typically identify themselves and have their number listed, which makes it easier to know where they are. However, in order to register Match Call-registrable Trainers who were battled prior to receipt of the PokéNav, the user will need to manually seek out and talk to said Trainers. The Match Call can also keep track of more Trainers than Trainer's Eyes, including having a few other non-Trainers, like the player's mother and Professor Birch, listed.
After entering theHall of Fame, every 60th wild encounter, every 20th Trainer battle, and every 20thBattle Frontier battle, the game makes aGym Leader rematch available.
Each Gym Leader has four teams, ordered from lowestlevels to highest levels, and they will use each team after the player defeats their previous team. All teams contain Pokémon outside theHoenn Pokédex. However, the teams won't progress if the player hasn't done theNew Mauville sidequest, andWattson won't be available at all.
In Pokémon Emerald, Trainers registered with the PokéNav's Match Call function will call more often if a Pokémon with theAbilityLightningrod leads theparty.

Pokémon the Series
Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire
Max received a PokéNav inThere's no Place Like Hoenn, given to him byhis father as a traveling gift. Duringthe group'sjourneys throughHoenn andKanto, the PokéNav proved its usefulness multiple times. However, the device performs poorly in areas with particularly strong magnetic fields, like theForbidden Forest. The PokéNav also isn't waterproof, as seen when Max spilled orange juice onto the device inStairway to Devon.
During theEver Grande Conference, several new functions of the PokéNav were revealed. Max used it to keep track of the battle rounds and record statistics on various Trainers likeClark, as seen inShocks and Bonds.
InThe Right Place and The Right Mime,Tracey upgraded Max's PokéNav to allow it to locate theBattle Frontierfacilities.Scott, the owner of the Battle Frontier, also has a PokéNav.
