Pawmot (Japanese:パーモットParmot) is a dual-typeElectric/FightingPokémon introduced inGeneration IX.

Itevolves fromPawmo when leveled up while outside of itsPoké Ball after the player walks 1000steps using theLet's Go! feature.[1][2] It is the final form ofPawmi.

Biology

Pawmot's forepaws discharging electricity

Pawmot is a stout, bipedal, rodent-likePokémon that has a body that is almost entirely orange, with tan colorations on its forepaws, snout, and long, fluffy tail, and green on the insides of its ears. Its face has beady brown eyes, a tiny nose, and yellow electric sacs on its cheeks. It has shaggy tufts of fur on its forehead and near its ears, as well as on its neck which forms a collar. Pawmot has five fingers on its considerably large forelimbs, which stretch down to its tiny feet. The colorations on its forelimbs create a zigzag pattern. It has yellow pads on its forepaws which turn teal-blue when it uses electric attacks.

Although Pawmot's reaction speed is normally low, it is able to strike opponents with fast movements when battling. The fluffy fur on its body acts like a battery, allowing it to store as much electricity as an electric car. As mentioned inPokémon Sleep, Pawmot has a peaceful personality. On occasion, it will heal injured Pokémon by discharging electricity from its forepaws. If Pawmot raises its paws while it sleeps, it is possibly dreaming of tending to other Pokémon.[3]

Pawmot is theonly known Pokémon capable of learning the moveDouble Shock.

Evolution

Trivia

Concept and development

Pawmot and its pre-Evolutions were designed byAtsuko Nishida,[4] who was responsible for designingPikachu andRaichu.

Origin

Pawmot seems to be based on amarmot, such as thealpine marmot, which was reintroduced in 1948 to thePyrenees mountain range at the border of Spain and France, after its disappearance in the region following the end of thePleistocene epoch. Pawmot's ability to discharge electricity from its paws may be inspired bydefibrillators. Both aspects may attribute to its ability to learnRevival Blessing.

Name origin

Pawmot may be a combination ofPawmi orPawmo andmarmot.

Parmot may be a combination of パモPamo (Pawmi) or パモットPamot (Pawmo) andmarmot.
