Parting Shot (Japanese:すてゼリフParting Shot) is a non-damagingDark-typemove introduced inGeneration VI. Prior toGeneration VII, it was thesignature move ofPancham andPangoro.

Effect

Parting Shot lowers the target'sAttack andSpecial Attack stats by one stage each, and thenswitches the user out.

Parting Shot is asound-based move. Parting Shot can hit Pokémon even if they are behind asubstitute.

If Parting Shot is used on a Pokémon under the effect ofMagic Coat or that has the AbilityMagic Bounce, the effect is bounced back to the user, lowering the user's Attack and Special Attack, and the target is switched out instead.

If an opponent usesPursuit on the same turn Parting Shot is used, Pursuit deals normal damage if the foe is faster, or double damage if the foe is slower than the user.

Generation VI

The user will not switch out if Parting Shot fails (such as if it has no target), if the target is immune (such as due toSoundproof), if it is blocked by aprotection move, or if there is no Pokémon in theparty that can be sent out to replace the user after switching out. However, the user will switch even if Parting Shot is unable to affect the target's stats (such as due toClear Body orMist).

Generation VII onward

The user no longer switches out if Parting Shot is unable to affect the target's stats (such as due toClear Body orMist). The user will no longer switch out if the target already has both -6 Attack and Special Attack stat stages (unless the target's Ability isContrary, in which case the user will not switch out if the target has both +6 Attack and Special Attack stat stages). The user successfully switches out if Parting Shot is unable to affect the target's stats due toMirror Armor, regardless of whether the user's own stats are reduced as a result. Liquid Voice will turn Parting Shot into a Water-type move, thus making Water-immune abilities block it.

If powered up by aDarkinium Z into Z-Parting Shot, if a Pokémon is switched in to replace the user the same turn, that Pokémon has its HP fully restored (even if Z-Parting Shot was not used successfully after gaining its Z-Power effect).Throat Chop cannot prevent a Pokémon from using Z-Parting Shot.
