Nacrene Museum (Japanese:シッポウ博物館Shippou Museum) is a museum showing various historical treasures is located at the heart of Nacrene City. Upon entering the museum, the player may talk to the woman on the right hand desk to restoreFossils. The ground floor of the Nacrene Museum is where all of its showcases are located, arranged symmetrically along the left and right sides of the walls. The museum's most prominent display is the skeleton of aDragon-type Pokémon (resemblingDragonite), which is nestled at the center of the main exhibition room. Over to the left of the skeleton is anArmaldo Fossil. There is a meteorite exhibit located above the Fossil that, when examined, can changeDeoxys into any of its fourforms, depending on which one it is currently in. TheDark StoneW orLight StoneB is located here and initially regarded as an "ordinary old stone" beforeLenora discovers what it actually is and gives it to the player. On the right side of the museum is an ancient tablet with an unknown script carved into it. Beneath this is a mask that was worn by ancient people at festivals, and three large bones that were once carried as weapons by a certain Pokémon (possiblyCubone orMarowak). By ascending the flight of stairs at the back of the museum, the player can access a library room, which also operates as theNacrene GymBW.

Black & White arc

Nacrene City first appeared inWheeling and Dealing whenBlack andWhite arrived there. After White had advertised her company, theBW Agency, at Café Warehouse, and Black had solved the case of a stolen accordion, the latter went to challengeLenora at theNacrene Gym inBattle at the Museum. While Black battled, White and the director of the BW Agency had aXtransceiver call with the mayor ofNimbasa City, who was worried of his city's lowering tourism rates, and wanted White to help in inventing new attractions to solve the issue. White suggested establishing aPokémon Musical, which the mayor thought to be an excellent idea.

InDefeating Stoutland, Black managed to defeat Lenora and earn himself theBasic Badge. As Black left, Lenora received a phone call fromClay, who told her about the mysterious item he hadrecently discovered at theDesert Resort, which was revealed to be theDark Stone. InThe Mystery of the Missing Fossil, the Nacrene Museum'sDragon Fossil was stolen byTeam Plasma, but Black andBurgh were able to get it back.

InThe Battle Within, most of Unova'sGym Leaders set up an ambush on Team Plasma in Nacrene City as they attempted to steal the Dark Stone from the museum. However, inMuseum Showdown, the Gym Leaders were caught off-guard when theShadow Triad unleashed theforces of nature upon them, completely overwhelming them. InFinding Truth,Ghetsis tricked Black into revealing the Dark Stone's hiding place in the museum's basement, allowing him to steal it. The Gym Leaders who had tried to defend the museum were subsequently taken captive by Team Plasma, except forBrycen, who had managed to replace himself with an ice duplicate before being caught. It was then revealed that the museum had also been hiding theLight Stone, which Team Plasma had not been aware of. As Brycen saw the Light Stone rolling towards Black and thus choosing him as theHero of Truth, he decided to take him to theTubeline Bridge for atraining session.

Black 2 & White 2 arc

InPink Slip, Nacrene City was revealed to be one of the settlements frozen over by thePlasma Frigate.

Trivia

  • Nacrene City has a train track running through the south side of the city.
    • However, it is nonfunctional, as there is no train visible and the track ends abruptly inPinwheel Forest.
  • Nacrene City shares its Japanese name, Shippou, withSevault Canyon in theSevii Islands.
  • A boy in Nacrene City mentions that Dire Hit is called Dire Hit in Unova. This is a reference to the change in the Japanese name of Dire Hit from クリティカッターCriticutter to クリティカットCriticut, in order to make room for the number-level reference ofWonder Launcher items. Because "Dire Hit" is much shorter than the 12-character limit on English item names, this issue does not come up in the translated games.
  • Due to having a variable level,Lass Dye's WhimsicottB/LilligantW can potentially be the highest-leveled Trainer-owned Pokémon outside of a battle facility. Depending on the level of the CottoneeB/PetililW traded to her, the resulting Pokémon may be higher thanRed'sPikachu inPokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver andCynthia'sGarchomp inPokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (both of whom are at level 88) and can potentially reach all the way to level 100. This trait is shared withYoungster Kyle in the same games andLass Diana inPokémon Black 2 and White 2.
    • In addition, if theplayer nicknames the CottoneeB/PetililW that is traded to her, the nickname will carry over into the battle, making her the only Trainer to use a nicknamed Pokémon in battle, excluding thePokémon World Tournament's Mix Tournament.
  • Among the exhibits of the museum, there is an African mask, referring to a place in the real world, in addition to being different from other exhibitions, which are related to the history of the Pokémon.
