Moonlight (Japanese:つきのひかりMoonlight) is a non-damagingFairy-typemove introduced inGeneration II. Prior toGeneration VI, it was aNormal-type move.

Effect

Generation II

Moonlight restores the user's currentHP based on theweather andtime of day. In the morning and daytime, during no weather, it restores ¼ total HP, duringharsh sunlight it restores ½ total HP, and during other weather it restores ⅛ total HP, rounded down. Except in link battles, the move restores twice as much HP at night.

Generation III to V

Moonlight restores the user's current HP based on theweather in the battle. During no weather it restores ½ total HP, duringharsh sunlight it restores ⅔ total HP, and during other weather it restores ¼ total HP, rounded down.

Moonlight can be used as the second move of aPokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point ifSunny Day was used in the previous turn.

Generation VI onwards

Moonlight is now aFairy-type move. When used duringstrong winds it restores ½ total HP, rounded down.

Moonlight can be used as part of aContest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an three extra appeal points if the moveSunny Day was used in the prior turn.

If powered up by aFairium Z into Z-Moonlight, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.
