(Japanese:ミヤモトMiyamoto) is the mother ofJessie, and a former member ofTeam Rocket. She disappeared while on a mission to capture aMew forMadame Boss and hasn't been heard from since.
History
Miyamoto was an active-duty Class A Rocket. She was the first person to get tangible evidence ofMew, a recording that she took in the South American jungle. After filtering out all background audio, she was left with the faint cry of Mew.
When she showed this recording toMadame Boss, she was sent on a mission to capture Mew. Miyamoto was torn over having to leaveJessie behind, as she was still a child at the time, and thus she carried a photo of Jessie at all times.
While on her search through the Andes Mountains, Miyamoto got lost in a blizzard. The harsh weather suddenly broke, upon which Mew appeared before her. After she showed Mew a picture of Jessie, she tried to convince Mew to let her capture it, but Mew vanished and the blizzard returned. An avalanche started and Miyamoto's scream was the last thing that was heard. Ever since, she was presumed dead.
However, she still made reports in the subsequent years, andGiovanni stated that her current whereabouts are unknown. As far as it is known, Miyamoto may still be looking for Mew.
Character
She sums up her life with a simple phrase:

Miyamoto is a devoted Rocket and the favorite ofMadame Boss, who calls her the "ideal image of Team Rocket."
Miyamoto is much like her daughter in many respects, though perhaps less rough and dramatic than she is, and more easygoing. She also has a deep love for her daughter. Knowing that she could not take care of her, she put Jessie up for adoption and devoted herself to making money to give to her daughter.
Miyamoto isJessie's mother and she cares deeply for her daughter. She also seemed to be close to Madame Boss, taking orders directly from her. They even talk about their children. She often has to correct her boss, when she goes on a tangent about the cost of missions, or making easy money.
Trivia
- InSnow Way Out!, a character referred to asJessie's mother appeared, although only her torso was shown and she did not resemble Miyamoto at all. While she was never referred to as Jessie's mother in the dialogue of the Japanese version, she was referred to as such in the dub and the Japanese closed captions.
Name origin
Miyamoto's name comes from that of 宮本武蔵Miyamoto Musashi, a famous Japanese swordsman. This is in reference to herdaughter, whose Japanese name is Musashi. Additionally,Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the top game designers of Nintendo.
