Release information

In Japan, this card was released as anUnnumbered Promotional card with artwork byKen Sugimori and was available on a two-card insert alongsideBrock's Onix in the March 1998 issue ofCoroCoro Comic, released on February 15, 1998. It was reprinted in the JapaneseHanada City GymTheme Deck with new artwork by the same artist. This print was later included in theGym Challenge expansion, having been previously reprinted in the JapaneseLeaders' Stadium expansion.

A mail-in prize draw offering another copy of the original Japanese print was published in the November 1998 issue ofCoroCoro Comic, released on October 15, 1998. People wishing to enter the prize draw were required to affix the application ticket on the bottom left of the article page to a postcard and send it toShogakukan. Two thousand winners were sent a set of four cards mounted on two plain sheets:Mew andMewtwo on one; anotherMewtwo and Misty's Staryu on the other.
