Plot
AtPasio Academy, theplayer runs intoIlima andLacey, who seem troubled. Lacey asks the player if they know any events that anyone can join, explaining that she has been assigned to a committee that'll be hosting an academy event, but is stumped on ideas. The player suggests the Midnight Parade, so Lacey decides to join the event this year to search for inspiration.
Arriving at the Midnight Parade with herWhimsicott alongside the player, Lacey observes thatGhost-type Pokémon seem to be the main focus and that many Trainers seem have gone for "spooky cute" costumes. The pair encountersSabrina, who had a premonition that she should participate as well. Seeing as neither of them are wearing costumes, Lacey proposes that Sabrina check out the event with them. They soon encounterHilbert,Iris andShauntal who challenge them to fight or fright.
The three wander to the Midnight Ball, a social event hosted byDarach,Ingo, andEmmet. Lacey explains to the hosts that she is event planning for Pasio Academy.Caitlin notes that she won't be able to fully enjoy the Midnight Parade if she's busy planning, but Lacey shrugs this off. While Lacey seeks out more advice from the butlers about hospitality, Sabrina departs for a moment before returning asBellelba, much to Lacey's amazement.
Bellelba orders Lacey and the player to guide her around the Midnight Parade. The three run intoCilan,Chili, andCress at a restaraunt, who feign fright and play along with Bellelba's threats despite Lacey's concern. Later, Lacey expresses alarm when Bellelba threatens to steal candy from a group of children, and becomes confused that everyone is still happy despite her being selfish and mean. Bellelba explains that this is the one day when evildoers are more popular than heroes, and she suggests Lacey should loosen up for some evil, harmless fun. Though Lacey struggles with the idea, seeing her Whimiscott being receptive to it gives her pause.
Some time later, Lacey returns in her fall outfit, having decided to embrace a bit of devious fun for everyone. She starts by supporting Bellelba and the player during a Pokémon battle against theStriaton CityGym Leaders, and when the group challenges another group of kids to fight or fright, she reveals that she even had Whimiscott'sTera Type changed toDark. Days after the Midnight Parade ends, Lacey is relieved when the committee approves her event idea, who called its dark twist unlike her in a good way. Thanking Sabrina for encouraging her to enjoy the Midnight Parade, she realizes that she missed out on noticing Sabrina being just as cute the whole time. Flustered, Sabrina jokes that perhaps Lacey is bad after all.
