History
Background
Around 10 years ago, Miraidon was brought from either a distant future or another timeline toArea Zero byProfessor Turo'stime machine. He eventually brought the Pokémon to his home, where his sonArven lived with hisMaschiff. Miraidon lived with the family in secret for some time until, one day, it attacked several wild Pokémon and attracted unwanted attention, forcing Turo to take it back to Area Zero.
At some point, a second Miraidon was brought through the time machine, but this one proved far more belligerent and aggressive than the first. One day, the aggressive Miraidon forced a violent territorial dispute which ended with Research Station No. 4 being destroyed and Turo being gravely injured trying to protect the passive Miraidon. Wounded and traumatized, the timid Miraidon flew away from Area Zero.
Pokémon Violet

It flies out of theGreat Crater of Paldea before it loses consciousness and crash lands on a beach belowPoco Path. Theplayer happens to fall to the beach where Miraidon is resting in its Low-Power Mode and offers it theirsandwich, which revitalizes it enough to switch to Ultimate Mode. As Miraidon leads the player throughInlet Grotto, a group ofHoundour led by aHoundoom start to harass Miraidon. Though it tries to scare them off by roaring, this only causes the Houndour to attack the player instead, forcing Miraidon to grab them and escape. However, this uses up its remaining strength, reverting it to its Low-Power Mode again. The player meets Arven at Poco Path, who regards Miraidon with contempt and gives the playerMiraidon's Poké Ball after battling them, all too glad to have Miraidon off his hands.
Path of Legends
After the player attendsUva Academy and begins the Treasure Hunt, Miraidon regains enough strength to access its Drive Mode, allowing the player to ride it across thePaldea region. One of the player's long-term objectives is to find and defeat the fiveTitan Pokémon, helping Arven find the source of their strength: theHerba Mystica. Arven creates recipes with the Herba Mystica to help his woundedMabosstiff recover from its injuries. Miraidon, having acquired a taste for sandwiches, eagerly prompts the player to share their Herba Mystica sandwiches with it, despite Arven's objections. Eating the sandwiches causes Miraidon to regain its strength and unlock more abilities to traverse Paldea with.
★ Starfall Street ★
Everytime the player defeats one of the bosses ofTeam Star and leaves their bases,Penny appears outside to congratulate and pay the player for their work, Miraidon however, comes out of its Poké Ball and starts to playfully lick Penny all over, showing great affection to her even against her will.
The Way Home
After the player completes all three story paths, they,Nemona, Arven, and Penny prepare to enter Area Zero, but Miraidon fearfully hesitates due to its trauma. The player and company force it to carry them down into the crater anyway, but while it manages to get them all down there (despite a rough landing), Miraidon returns to its Poké Ball and refuses to come out. It is finally called back out in front of theZero Lab before the door is opened, but as this happens, Miraidon encounters its old nemesis, the aggressive Miraidon, who immediately threatens it before entering the now-opened Zero Lab. This leaves it too scared to help the player and friends fend off the other hostileParadox Pokémon from the Zero Lab, but Arven, who is piecing together the truth of his and Miraidon's past, encourages it to face its enemy inside the lab while he holds back the Paradox Pokémon outside.
The player and Miraidon meet the late Professor Turo's AI counterpart inside the lab, and when the other Miraidon approaches them, he returns it to itsMaster Ball. The player heeds AI Turo's request to shut down the professor'stime machine before it releases enough future Pokémon to destroy Paldea's ecosystem, but the time machine resists by overriding the AI and making it battle the player. After the AI's team is defeated, the Paradise Protection Protocol initializes in response, locking all Poké Balls not registered to Professor Turo's ID and forcing the AI to send out the aggressive Miraidon. The player's only option is to send out Miraidon, since its Poké Ball is still registered to Turo's ID. Having recovered its strength, and with moral support from the player and friends, Miraidon assumes its Ultimate Mode and faces its nemesis, finally defeating it thanks toTerastallization and its friends's support. From this moment on, the player can freely switch Miraidon between serving as their Ride Pokémon in its Drive Mode (and other associated Modes) or a member of their party in its Ultimate Mode.
The Teal Mask
During the player's schooltrip toKitakami, Miraidon comes out of its Poké Ball again as it hears the word sandwich, surprisingKieran that the player possesses such an amazing and rare Pokémon.
The Indigo Disk
Later on, the player entersBlueberry Academy's BB League. One of the BB League'sElite Four,Amarys, requires the player to pass her Flying Time Trial, in which challengers must clear the course on flight-capable Ride Pokémon within a certain amount of time. To enable this, Amarys gives the player a supplement made from herbs growing in theTerarium that temporarily enables Miraidon to enter its Glide Mode, allowing it to freely fly through the air. Later on, after the player, Kieran,Carmine andBriar travel all the way intoArea Zero Underdepths, Kieran, determined to defeat the player usingTerapagos, Terastallizes it and causes it to lose control and almost kill him with a Terastal energy blast, being saved just in time by Miraidon who was sent out to protect him by the player.
After the story is completed, Amarys offers more supplements so the player and Miraidon can fly whenever they need to, but to her surprise, Miraidon devours all of the supplements right away, causing it to power up and gain permanent access to its Flying Mode. Later on, when the player travels to Kitakami'sCrystal Pool having with them, both Terapagos andBriar's Book, Terapagos will use its powers and the stones in the Crystal Pool to temporarily bring a Professor Turo from a parallel timeline, there. In excitement, Miraidon comes out of its Poké Ball once again to excitedly greet their former owner, who it clearly cares and misses deeply, becoming saddened as Turo returns to his own timeline now with Briar's Book

Miraidon has a meek and gentle personality. Though initially wary, it bonds with the player and accompanies them during their journey throughout the Paldearegion. Miraidon shows compassion towardsArven'sMabosstiff and curiosity towardsPenny, despite the former's initial distaste of it and the latter's shyness. Throughout the journey, it slowly regains its strength, allowing Miraidon to utilize additional forms to help the player navigate Paldea's terrain. Miraidon is initially hesitant to enter Area Zero due to its previous encounter with the other Miraidon, but with the support of the player and friends, Miraidon finds the courage to face its old nemesis and finally defeat it.

History
Background
Prior to the events of the manga,Violet andOld Roto witnessed an injured Miraidon crash-landing on a beach nearCabo Poco. When Violet went to check to see if Miraidon was alright, it got up and stole one of hissandwiches. Miraidon took a liking to the boy and began following him around. Later, Violet received a call fromProfessor Turo, who informed him that Miraidon could regain its lost power if fed theHerba Mystica. At Turo's suggestion, Violet set out to find Turo's sonArven, who had been doing research on the mysterious plants.
Scarlet & Violet arc

Shortly after setting foot inUva Academy inSpeeding! Paldea's Prince of Speed!!, Violet began looking for Arven's whereabouts. His search led to him crashing the school's opening ceremony and competing in a race against several teachers. All the commotion alerted Arven, who demanded to know how Violet came in contact with Miraidon. Violet ignored the question and instead dragged Arven along to assist in his quest to obtain the Herba Mystica.
InAcquisition! New Ability: Dash!!, atSouth Province (Area Three), Violet and Arven foughtKlawf, the Stony CliffTitan. By using the area's terrain to its advantage, Klawf managed to avoid Violet and Miraidon's pursuit, eventually leaving the latter too exhausted to move. After Klawf was defeated, Arven used theSweet Herba Mystica it was guarding to make sandwiches for everyone. The herb-filled sandwich successfully powered Miraidon up, giving it the ability to dash, much to Violet's delight.
InPASV10, Arven convinced Violet he needed to train himself to use Miraidon's new speed efficiently so they wouldn't crash into wild Pokémon all the time. While training, Arven received word of a new Titan Pokémon, and the three set out to find it. Upon discovering TitanBombirdier, they were met with a barrage of boulders raining down the path. Putting their training to the test, Violet and Miraidon successfully reached Bombirdier, allowing the Trainers to battle it. After defeating it, Arven made sandwiches with theBitter Herba Mystica. The herb-filled sandwich powered Miraidon up once again, giving it the ability to swim.
InPASV14, while trying to raidTeam Star's Fire crew, the Schedar Squad, Violet encounteredScarlet, who wanted to borrow Miraidon to help her find thetreasures of ruin. When Violet refused, Scarlet tied him up with herTarountula's thread and stole the Paradox Pokémon. Miraidon, instead of listening to her, raced off towards Arven to eat a sandwich.
InPASV17, Scarlet and Arven sought out and foughtOrthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan. During the battle, it was revealed that Miraidon could sense the Herba Mystica connected to the Titan Pokémon and would pursue them without encouragement. It chased down the elusive Pokémon acrossEast Province (Area Three) until they were able to reconnect with Violet and defeat it. Afterward, Arven made sandwiches with theSalty Herba Mystica. The herb-filled sandwich powered Miraidon up once again, giving it the ability to jump higher. Scarlet, realizing Miraidon wasn't at full strength, returned it to Violet for the time being.
Violet and Arven returned toAsado Desert to defeatIron Treads, The Quaking Earth Titan. They quickly ran into complications when it was revealed that Iron Treads had shared its Herba Mystica with aGreat Tusk, creating a second Titan Pokémon to defeat. Miraidon led Violet into battle while Arven rode Violet'sCyclizar, with the two Dragon-types working together to distract and tire out the Titans. Eventually, with help fromKofu andSaguaro, the Titans were defeated. Afterward, Arven made sandwiches with theSour Herba Mystica. The herb-filled sandwich powered Miraidon up once again, giving it the ability to glide.
Personality and characteristics

Miraidon has a voracious appetite, which is best shown over its love of sandwiches-specifically ones made by Arven. Its appetite is so strong that it has chowed down onOld Roto multiple times in an attempt to eat one of Arven's meals and ran away from Violet for the potential to enjoy one. After losing its strength, it chose to stay with Violet due to his kindness and willingness to continue feeding it. It is a fast Pokémon perfect for races, a befitting trait alongside Violet's self-proclaimed title as the "Prince of Speed".
Miraidon can sense theHerba Mystica thatTitan Pokémon have consumed and will give chase without being ordered to.

Trivia
- Miraidon andKoraidon are the onlyLegendary Pokémon available to the player at the start of the game, although they can't be used in battle until the end of the main story.
- Despite it originally being registered to Turo's ID, by the time the player can use it in battle, it is registered to the player's ID. The same is also true with Koraidon andProfessor Sada. However, this is not the case in the battle against the Paradise Protection Protocol, as Miraidon's met data is incomplete at that time.[4]
