Malie Garden (Japanese:マリエ庭園Malie Garden) is a location onUla'ula Island inAlola, located inMalie City.

Geography

Malie Garden, like the rest of Malie City, was designed by people who moved to Alola fromJohto. As such, it sports a very Johto-like outlook, with a tower similar to theBell Tower inEcruteak City standing at one of its corners. To serve the manytourists visiting the garden, a tea shop is located in the middle of it. The use ofRide Pokémon (excludingCharizard) is prohibited within the garden walls.

Theplayer first visits Malie Garden withHau after their trip toAether Paradise to meet up withProfessor Kukui and tell him about their recentUltra Beast encounter. After completing thetrial onMount Hokulani, the player will return to the garden to have their first encounter and battle against the leader ofTeam Skull,Guzma.

After the player defeats Guzma, the bridge at the front of the garden becomes populated by five Trainers and their leader,mimicking theNugget Bridge fromKanto in both dialogue and team structure, despite many of the Trainers' Pokémon not being native to Alola. If the player defeats all five Trainers, they will receive aBig Nugget fromVeteran Don at the end, before battling him as well. After he is defeated, he and the other Trainers on the bridge leave.

• According to the girl who gives the player an Air Balloon, the lake inside Malie Garden is designed after aGyarados.
• PreschoolerAiley in Sun and Moon had her English name changed toNancy in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. A likely reason for this change is to avoid reusage of the name Ailey as it was already in use forthe player character of the same name in promotional material in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
