Location of Lysandre Labs inLumiose City.
Pokémon world locations

TheLysandre Labs (Japanese:フラダリラボFuladari Labs) is the moniker of the hideout located behind a china cabinet in Lysandre Café, which is located inLumiose City'sMagenta Plaza, serving as one ofTeam Flare's headquarters. It is also the location from which theultimate weapon is activated. It is explored in bothPokémon X and Y andPokémon Legends: Z-A.

In the core series games

Pokémon X and Y

InPokémon X and Y, a Hidden Floor can only be unlocked by entering a special password at the elevator; during the post-gameLooker missions,Malva will unlock it for theplayer. The Hidden Floor can only be accessed from B1 and can only access B1 and B2. It also has the same layout as B1 except that all of the connected rooms are blocked off except for the middle room in the north.

Library room

If the player inspects the bookshelves in the library room, they will discover research material related toKalos's history.

Red shelves
The king's name wasAZ, and he was both the beginning and the end. He used technology unlike any seen during that era to unite Kalos for the first time
The king was proud of the technology he had used to bring Kalos prosperity, but he couldn't help but use it in a way that had never been intended... AZ, the man who was king, disappeared.
When AZ, the man who was king, vanished, he took the key to theultimate weapon. That is the item required to activate the weapon.
Purple shelves
The King couldn't escape war with those who targeted a wealthy Kalos. The war grew so violent and ugly, the king was forced to sendhis own beloved Pokémon into battle.
AZ had a younger brother. It's said that he led a legion of greedy souls who wanted to seize the seize the Kalos region. His dark intention was to make it his own. But when he saw how Kalos had been ravaged by the war, he took the weapon his brother had created, and he buried the weapon deep underground.
The king's younger brother told his progeny the location of the ultimate weapon and died. That is something to be used by sophisticated powers, not by humans. Human beings must create a world where such a weapon is unnecessary...
Blue shelves
Full of sorrow, AZ built the ultimate weapon. When he did this he left the following words. 'What's wrong with bringing something you love back into this world? Without my beloved Pokémon, no other Pokémon have any meaning!
The mountains will never know one another, but people can encounter other people. And people and Pokémon mix together.
Over the ages, people and Pokémon worked alongside one another and created many things. As a result of this, a leader appeared among the humans. That leader sought to produce even more goods. Increased production of goods created a gap between haves and have-nots.
Lysandre’s desk

Also in the room there is a desk where the player can find a report detailing Lysandre's past:

When I was young, I went on a journey around Kalos with my Pokemon. I reached out to help those suffering because they had nothing. At first, they were grateful, but eventually, they began to take my help for granted and demand more and more… Will fools like those people consume the Kalos region? This world is stable and secure. So the population of people and Pokemon continues to increase unabated. But there is a limit to the amount of money and energy the world is capable of producing. Either everything is lost, or only a handful are saved. This is something best not left to man… I must use a tool of higher power.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

InPokémon Legends: Z-A, after five years since the events of Pokémon X and Y, Lysandre Labs and the Lysandre Café standing above it have become largely abandoned due to the downfall of Team Flare, and the place is now overrun with wild Pokémon. After reaching Rank B of theZ-A Royale, the player confrontsGrisham andGriselle, revealed to be members of a Team Flare splinter group known asTeam Flare Nouveau. Grisham and Griselle invite the player to Lysandre Labs to show them the truth about AZ and his ultimate weapon. The player has to gather Lab Key Cards and activate the central elevator using theElevator Key in order to access the lower floors.

Upon reaching B3F of Lysandre Labs, some of the machines will reactivate, and the player may access four files in the control room's central computer, as follows:

File 1: The Device
“The Device That Grants Life.”
This device was created three thousand years in the past.
It was originally designed to restore life to a Pokémon that had perished.
We have found this ultimate weapon buried in the earth beneathGeosenge Town.
It has been well preserved. We believe we can have it operational with a little work.
But we have not yet found the necessary key to activate the weapon.
We believeAZ should still possess it, since he was the machine’s creator.
We must find him and capture him—without delay.
File 2: The Fuel
The “Device That Grants Life” in fact grants the deceased life stolen from other Pokémon.
This is because the basic function of the device is to distill energy into its purest form, then emit that distilled energy.
This emission can take the form of convection, radiation, or conduction.
Thus life can be conducted back into a Pokémon that had lost its own, allowing it to be revived.
What, then, would occur if we were to fuel the device with the energy of aLegendary Pokémon?
File 3: The Legends
Kalos is said to have two Legendary Pokémon.
Xerneas—which represents life and rebirth. AndYveltal—representing destruction and death.
The power to grant life and the power to steal life.
These are mysterious abilities that even science has not been able to decode.
What would happen to the world if we were to use such power to activate the ultimate weapon?
File 4: Our Shared Dream
As the world grows wealthier, the number of Pokémon and people will only continue to grow, and that growth will invite new difficulties.
In time, life will fill every corner of the planet, until no more life can be sustained.
When there is only one of something, it cannot be shared.
When something cannot be shared, it will be fought over.
And when something is fought over, some must survive without it.
The only way to create a world where people live in beauty, a world without conflict or theft, is to reduce the number of living things.
My comrades in Team Flare, the time has come to lead the world toward a more beautiful future.

Afterwards,Lysandre himself (now known as L) and Zygarde will enter the control room, and L reveals that Zygarde saved him from his supposed demise after he reactivated the ultimate weapon, though it exhausted its power in the process. L also reveals the existence ofAnge, another device similar to the ultimate weapon that is hidden withinPrism Tower, which can only be activated and controlled using AZ's Eternal Flower Floette. L mentions that his original plan was to activate both the ultimate weapon and Ange at the same time, but he decided to abandon his plans for Ange since he couldn't track down AZ's Floette. L warns the player that Ange will soon go berserk, and urges the player to discuss the matters with Grisham and AZ before he leaves.

Mewtwo can be encountered on B3F duringSide Mission EX2: Project M. This Side Mission becomes available through an activation flag after redeeming the correspondingMystery Gift distribution.

Lysandre Labs inPokémon the Series: XY

Unlike the games, where it is located underneathLumiose City, Lysandre Labs is located at the northwest corner of Kalos.

Pokémon the Series: XY

Lysandre Labs was first mentioned inMega Evolution Special II, whereAlain was revealed to have worked withLysandre there. After settling affairs in theHoenn region inMega Evolution Special III, Alain and Lysandre returned to the labs, where Alain andCharizard continued to train. InMega Evolution Special IV, Alain faced a series of tenMega Evolution Trainers, includingMalva, in a row at the labs, whileMairin'sChespin,Chespie, freed aZygarde Core from Lysandre's scientists, an effort that resulted in it entering a coma. Mairin stayed at the laboratory for a time, watching over her comatose Pokémon. Since then, it appeared in several subsequent episodes in the main series as the base of operations for Lysandre,Xerosic, andTeam Flare as a whole as they experimented on the Giant Rock,Z2, Mega Evolution energy, and their weapon.

The labs appeared again inComing Apart at the Dreams! and the following two episodes, after Team Flare had started their attack onLumiose City with the mind controlled Z2.Serena, Mairin,Professor Sycamore, andTeam Rocket went to the lab in order to rescueChespie. After successfully rescuing Chespie, the four made their way to theGiant Rock, which reacted to the energy Chespie had within it, causing it to absorb Chespie and mutate into the shape of a Zygarde 50% Forme. Lysandre Labs was then destroyed by the Giant Rock, which began traveling towards theAnistar City Sundial.

The labs were mentioned bySawyer inThe First Day of the Rest of Your Life!, and later appeared inTill We Compete Again!. He went to the ruins of the labs to assistSteven in studying the Giant Rock that resided there.

Trivia

  • Lysandre Labs is the only location inKalos that is not abattle facility whereScientists can be battled.
