Lucius's Lapras (Japanese:ルシアスのラプラスLucius's Laplace) is aPokémon thatLuciuscaught on his journey toLaqua. She is agiant Pokémon. She is the fourth of theSix Heroes that theRising Volt Tacklers have encountered on their journey, and the third one to join them, being placed underLiko's care. Currently, she is roaming the world traveling through the ocean.
100 years prior to the events of the series,Lucius met and battledLapras at an unknown sea before catching her in anAncient Poké Ball. As one of Lucius's Pokémon, she became one of theSix Heroes, being known to "cross vast oceans".
Finally having reachedLaqua, theExplorers found themselves in trouble afterGibeon meddled with theLaquium crystals found in the paradise. The Six Heroes released themselves from their Ancient Poké Balls and tried to contain the crystals, but to no avail. Afterwards,Rystal'sTerapagos,Pagogo, transformed into itsStellar Form and gave some of itsenergy to the Six Heroes, allowing them to seal the Laquium away. As a result of this, Lucius was trapped in Laqua, Pagogo reverted into a dormant state, and the Six Heroes got scattered around theworld, with Lapras and her Ancient Poké Ball ending up somewhere in the ocean.
Since then, Lapras formed a ragtag group of Pokémon from a variety of regions, likened byDiana to a pirate crew, which led her to name them the "Lapras Pirates". Eventually, they came up with a strategy to get food: first, Lapras would useMist to get human ships lost, then, as she guided the crew to safety with her song, the rest of the group would sneak into the ship and steal all the food they could. Due to this, a rumor began to spread among the sailors about a shining Lapras that guides ships lost in the mist to safety with her song. According to Diana, reports of such activity have popped up from all around the world, tracing back to the times of her youth, but now they seemed to be focused in acertain part of the sea.
At some point after theBlack Rayquaza was released from her Ancient Poké Ball inThe Ancient Poké Ball, it went after Lapras and passed on theWhite Zygarde's message to her, asking her to find a worthy Trainer.
Lapras debuted inSong Within the Mist, where she was initially seen tricking a cargo ship. After finding out the whereabouts of the crew of this ship, theRising Volt Tacklers followed their directions and ended up being engulfed by the sudden mist; this time, however, Lapras's strategy failed, as Liko andRoy were able to intercept two of her crew members, anAmbipom and aToedscruel, before they scrambled away on aWailord. This failed attempt led to the Rising Volt Tacklers figuring out Lapras's true intentions in thefollowing episode. As the pirates were fleeing, Lapras stood back and attacked theBrave Olivine, freezing it in place before fleeing. The group, however, managed to track down Lapras's hideout based on the food boxes they stole from lost ships. With the help ofTerapagos,Arboliva, andMoltres, Liko convinced Lapras to join them and help Terapagos reach Laqua and find Lucius again. Soon after, Lapras returned to her Ancient Poké Ball and allowed Liko to take her under her care.
InInto a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!, Lapras, Arboliva, and Moltres came out of their Poké Balls in their own, wanting to test Liko, Roy, andDot's strength as Trainers after the end of theirTera Training. Lapras faced Dot andQuaxwell and initially seemed to overwhelm her opponent, unleashing a flurry ofIce Beams that froze the terrain and forced them into dodging constantly. However, this was all part of Dot's plans, allowing Quaxwell to move faster by sliding on the ice and finally land a direct, supereffective hit withLow Kick, beforeTerastallizing. Lapras withstood the enhancedLiquidation, but seemed content with Dot and Quaxwell's strength and returned to her Poké Ball soon after.
Lucius and the Six Heroes' last moment together
InKleavor the Solitary Warrior, Lapras appeared to confrontKleavor. Both engaged in a brief fight, only for it to end up being a greeting between old friends. Lapras tried to convince Kleavor to join the Rising Volt Tacklers, only for Kleavor to leave as it wanted to test Liko and her friends' strength as Trainers first.
InThe Three Explorers andThe Wonders of the World!, all of the heroes gathered at that point came out of their Poké Balls and reunited with their long deceased friend,Rystal, who was summoned at theCrystal Pool by the Rising Volt Tacklers and Terapagos. InThe Pillar of Fire, Lapras and the other heroes came out of their Poké Balls to reunite withGouging Fire. After it chose to join them, the five, alongside Pagogo, summoned the remaining hero: the Black Rayquaza.
As the Rising Volt Tacklers traveled upMount Pericarp inWhere the Land Meets the Sky, Lapras was summoned from her Poké Ball by Pagogo to help the Rising Volt Tacklers travel upstream. After returning to Laqua inGuided by the Black Rayquaza!, the Six Heroes reunited with Lucius once he was freed from the Laquium cluster by the White Zygarde. Later, Lapras and the other heroes lent Pagogo their strength, allowing it to transform into its Stellar Form and purify Laqua from the Laquium inWhere the Adventure Leads. While most of the Laquium was gone, resulting in Lucius and Gibeon fading away,Spinel had managed to store enough of it to use on the Six Heroes, resulting in them all going berserk, except for Rayquaza. In the aftermath of these events, the Six Heroes, minus Rayquaza, were captured by the Explorers.
InThe Six Heroes Unleashed!, Lapras and the other captive heroes were forced to battle Liko, Roy, andUlt by the Explorers, who used the opportunity to gather data on their new SuperStrong Spheres. With Laquium boosting their power and ferocity, they easily overwhelmed the Rising Volt Tacklers, but Pagogo was eventually able to purify the substance from their bodies. Their victory was short-lived, however, as the Explorers used the Super Strong Spheres once more on them. The battle continued in thefollowing episode and, despiteAmethio and the White Zygarde joining in to aid the Rising Volt Tacklers, only ended when the effects of the Super Strong Spheres wore off, after every single Pokémon opposing the heroes had been defeated.
InHZ125, whilst under the influence of a Super Strong Sphere, Lapras was forced to battle against Amethio. Lapras and Zygarde initially seemed to be at even footing, with herIce Beam having frozen it in place, but she was eventually defeated after Zygarde changed to its10% Forme, which made it faster and harder to hit. Once the captive heroes were all defeated, the Explorers used Super Strong Spheres on them again, causing them to go berserk and battle each other as enemies. At this moment, Zygarde and Pagogo stepped in and showed memories of their adventures with Lucius and the Rising Volt Tacklers, bringing them to a more lucid state. They fought against the Laquium, and Pagogo changed to its Stellar Form to purify them, which also made Lapras Terastallize into anIcetype. Finally free, Lapras and the other four heroes promised Zygarde they would lend their strength when the time came and went on to roam the world.
Personality and characteristics
Lapras and LuciusLapras gaining the scars on her neck
Unlike the majority of her species, who are gentle towardshumans and enjoy carrying them on their backs, Lucius's Lapras acts quite hostile towards those she confronts, sneering at them with great anger. She also started helpingwild Pokémon commit several robberies of ships carrying supplies to help her Pokémon friends survive. Even when faced by her friend,Terapagos, Lapras did not back down from her actions, although she visibly hesitated upon seeing Terapagos. Much like her fellowSix Heroes teammates, Lapras holds great respect and affection forLucius, as Lapras shed tears upon witnessing a memory of him, and ultimately joined Liko after she promised to help take her and her friends to Laqua, the paradise that Lucius once sought to take them to.
Lapras's body is notably full of scars, most of which remain a mystery. The one across her eye seems to predate her capture by Lucius, as she already had it duringRystal's memories about how Lucius caught the Six Heroes. As revealed inKleavor the Solitary Warrior, Lapras gained the set of scars on her neck after taking a slash from both ofKleavor's axes in place of her Trainer. In fact, Lapras and Kleavor appear to have somewhat of a deeper connection within the Six Heroes, as Lapras was the only one to react after Kleavor was found.
During the years of her separation from Lucius, Lapras gathered a huge group of Pokémon by her side.Diana named this group "Lapras Pirates". As soon as Lapras decided to travel with Liko, the Pokémon decided to travel again, being guided by Wailord.
