Lucca (Japanese:ルッカLucca), also referred to asMrs. Lucca (Japanese:ルッカ先生Lucca-sensei), is a supporting character who appears inPokémon Horizons: The Series. She is ateacher andLiko'smother.
History
Pre-series
Lucca grew up somewhere in theKantoregion, where she metAlex when she attendedIndigo Academy.
Sometime before the events ofPokémon Horizons: The Series, Lucca metFriede and became his teacher.
As revealed inFlying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!, some years later, she moved toPaldea with Alex and eventually have her daughter namedLiko. Lucca introduced Friede toCaptain Pikachu, which led them to forming theRising Volt Tacklers. One day, Lucca was contacted byher mother as she asked her to hire anyone she trusted to protect both Liko and the pendant. Accepting her mother's request, Lucca called Friede and asked him to bring Liko, who was attending Indigo Academy, to Paldea and protect her during the journey there.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Lucca was first mentioned inThe Pendant That Starts It All (Part One) byLiko when she talking to her roommate that she befriend namedAnn. She andher husband recommendedIndigo Academy as the place where Liko would attend in the hopes of finding her goal.
InFor Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!,Friede mentioned her, where it was revealed that she asked and paid theRising Volt Tacklers to be Liko's bodyguards.
InWelcome to Paldea!, she was mentioned by Alex, when Liko asked where she was and Alex told Liko that she was on a field trip and couldn't come home that day.
InArboliva's Forest, Friede mentioned that he was awaiting contact from her. Lucca made her first physical appearance in thenext episode. Meeting Friede in a library inArtazon, Lucca told Friede the story about theAncient Adventurer, and how the story was connected with the twoAncient Poké Balls that Liko andRoy had. Friede also asked her if she knew anything about Liko's pendant since she was her mother, and she told him that she didn't know much about it, as it belonged to her mother,Diana. She also revealed that Diana had given the pendant to Liko as a good-luck charm.

InReunion at the Ancient Castle!, Diana revealed to Liko that she and Lucca had frequent contact about the journey Liko had been on with the Rising Volt Tacklers.
Lucca met Liko again some time before the events ofWelcome to Naranja Academy!. During the episode, Lucca and her husband welcomed Liko and prepared her to enterNaranja Academy. Lucca accompanied her during the way to the school, and when they separated, she wished Liko good luck.
Lucca was mentioned inThe Three Explorers where Diana revealed that she met with her daughter and she revealed that Liko was traveling toKitakami with the Rising Volt Tacklers.
InBeyond the Shining Rainbow, Lucca and Alex received a message from Liko on her Rotom Phone informing her that Liko had made progress in her search for theSix Heroes. After seeing the message, she sawBlack Rayquaza flying alongside theBrave Olivine.
Character
Lucca is a caring mother, who doesn't want to let her maternal-side influence Liko, and prefers her daughter to do things on her own as a way to have her learn about herself. According to her daughter, Lucca has a really short temper, just like hermother andgreat-grandmother, as revealed inThe Three Explorers.
