Luca (Japanese:ルカLuca) is a character inPokémon Duel. He is one of the player's friends andrivals, and the owner of an unspecified hotel. His special move is the "Luca Nova".

Personality

His father is the president of theR&T Corporation (Japanese:Ｒ＆ＴコーポレーションR&T Corporation), and Luca is anticipated to take the position in the future. However, he does not disclose this fact to his friends, fearing that they may become interested in his reputation rather than his personality. Luca is kind, helpful, and has a strong sense of justice - he firmly stands up to those he feels are acting unfairly or unreasonably. He also judges his own actions, sometimes questioning whether they are the right thing to do. He often protects his younger sisterTia, who struggles to deal with confrontations with difficult characters.

According to Tia, Luca was naive when he was younger, and easily tricked - but according to Luca, he has grown out of this.

Plot

Luca initially meets the player on the plane to the Pokémon Figure Game (PFG) World Championships onCarmonte Island. He is shocked to hear that the player had entered the tournament despite never playing the game before, and he offers to teach them how to play. Luca accompanies the player as they progress through the tournament's hotels, and on one occasion defends his sisterTia from rowdy customers at the shop where she works.

Around the time the player reachesThe Volcano, Luca is called away byJoe ofthe Roger family, who has taken Tia hostage. He meets with Don Roger to discuss the group's demands - assist them in obtainingCarlo, the player's advanced AI device, in exchange for Tia's freedom. Luca complies, and soon the advanced AI in his own device,Another, awakens. Another negotiates Tia's immediate release, in exchange for helping Don Roger to achieve his goal of changing PFG. With the bartering chip removed, Another and Luca become free to act on their own - and Another takes this opportunity to sow doubt in Luca's heart, pushing him away from his friends and putting him on a solo quest to become the best PFG player.

Luca encounters his friends again atElysium, but his tone is cold and shows heavy mistrust of them.
