TheLoto-ID (Japanese:IDくじID Lottery) or thePokémon Lottery Corner (Japanese:ポケモンくじ抽選コーナーPokémon Lottery Drawing Corner) is a recurring feature in thecore series games introduced inGeneration II that gives the player a periodic opportunity to receive a reward for owning a Pokémon with a certainOTID number. The Loto-ID is held at theLoto-ID Center (Japanese:IDくじセンター抽選コーナーID Lottery Center Drawing Corner).

Once per day (or once per week in Generation II), a random Trainer ID number is generated; if the player has a Pokémon with the same or a similar ID, they will receive a prize. In order for a Pokémon's Trainer ID to be eligible for an award, one or more consecutive corresponding digits of the Pokémon's Trainer ID and the random Trainer ID must be the same, starting from the rightmost digit. For example, if the current lottery number is 12345, a Pokémon with the Trainer ID 12340 will not win, and one with the Trainer ID 12305 will win for matching only the last digit (except in Generations II and III, which do not give rewards for matching only one digit). Starting in Generation VII, the game must be saved before the drawing of a lottery ticket, preventing exploits that involve resetting after drawing a ticket.

The Loto-ID appears in at least one core series game in GenerationsII,III,IV,VI,VII, andVIII. Similar features are present inPokémon Black 2 and White 2 and the Generation VII games with theRaffle Shops andLottery shops, respectively, which also reward the player with a randomly chosen free prize; however, these are not based on Trainer ID numbers.

Main article:Radio → Lucky Number Show

InPokémon Gold, Silver, andCrystal, the Lucky Number Show is part of the Lucky Channel, aradio program broadcast on channel 8.5 in Johto. Each Friday, a random ID number is generated and then broadcast on the Lucky Number Show throughout the following week. The player can bring a Pokémon with a Trainer ID number matching that week's lucky number to a receptionist on the ground floor of theGoldenrod Radio Tower to receive a prize. When the receptionist is spoken to, the IDs of all Pokémon in the player's party and in the currently selected Box of thePokémon Storage System are checked for matches, and a prize is awarded if one is found. The player can speak to the receptionist to check for matches multiple times in one week, but once a prize has been received, the player will not be able to participate again until after the lucky number changes at the start of the next Friday.

Generation III

InPokémon Ruby, Sapphire, andEmerald, the lottery is held at the Pokémon Lottery Corner on the ground floor of theLilycove Department Store, where it is conducted by the right receptionist. The winning ID number changes daily, and the game looks for matches by examining the Trainer IDs of all Pokémon in the player's party and in all PC Boxes (but not Pokémon inDay Care).

The player can only draw a ticket once per day, and their Pokémon are only checked for matches when the ticket is drawn. (If the player does not have any matching Pokémon when the ticket is drawn, they cannot receive a prize even if they subsequently gain a Pokémon with a matching Trainer ID.) The lottery number is predetermined before drawing it, so resetting the game will not change the lottery number.

InPokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Felicity and the Pokémon Lottery Corner appear on the ground floor of theGoldenrod Radio Tower.

The winning number changes daily, and the game looks for matches by examining the Trainer IDs of all Pokémon in the player's party and in all PC Boxes (but not Pokémon inDay Care). The winning Trainer ID number is synchronized within agroup—players in the same group will have the same winning number on any given day. Resetting the game does not change the day's winning number.

In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the player's Pokémon are only checked for matches when the ticket is drawn, which can only be done once per day. In Pokémon Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver, the player may check for matches any number of times per day, but cannot participate for the rest of the day once they have received a prize.
