Over a year later, inThe Knight in the Ruins, Charcadet reunited with Pagogo in the same ruins. Charcadet and Pagogo found its friends withLiko, as it witness her protecting them from aLaquium-afflictedScovillain. Seeing Scovillain about to attack Liko when she went to protectHappiny, Charcadet canceled out the attack by usingEmber and decided to battle the Spicy Pepper Pokémon. InCharcadet's Wish, Charcadet accompanied its Trainer toAmethio's mansion to search for clues regarding his whereabouts. Charcadet noticed a picture ofAmethio and his Charcadet on a beach, which helped the group pinpoint his location. Charcadet was then used to battleAmethio's Ceruledge, being overwhelmed by it throughout the battle. However, Charcadet bravely refused to give up and eventually landed a powerful Ember on its opponent, motivating Ceruledge to strike it down withShadow Claw, before the battle was called off. In spite of the battle being over, Charcadet was eager to fight again, developing a rivalry with Ceruledge.
InTaking the Next Steps, Charcadet andMeowscarada were used in aDouble Battle againstDiana's Arcanine andWashRotom. Using its Flash Fire Ability, Charcadet kept its ally protected by absorbingArcanine's Fire-type moves. Meowscarada moved Charcadet out of the way, but was left wide open in the process, allowing Arcanine to defeat her with another Flare Blitz. Diana lectured Charcadet for trying to protect its ally, only to end up needing to be saved and told it the importance of trusting its friends. Personality and characteristics
Charcadet, Pagogo, Meowscarada, and Hatterene
Armarouge is an honorable and headstrong Pokémon, though somewhat reckless and impulsive at times. As aCharcadet, it had a strong fighting spirit and was willing to face opponents stronger than itself, both traits typical of its species. On occasion, however, this would get the best of it, and it would try to jump into battles even if the situation was unproper, withMeowscarada often restraining it. In addition, it has a heroic spirit and has been shown to be willing to defend anyone from trouble, such as inThe Knight in the Ruins, when it protected the Pokémon living in its home fromKaratō'sScovillain. Overall, Armarouge is friendly to both people and Pokémon alike.
One of Armarouge's defining traits is its chivalry. When it choseLiko to be itsTrainer, it kneeled before her as if it was a knight, offering to protect her. Also, as a Charcadet, it had the habit of mounting onPagogo's back akin to a knight riding a steed, something theTera Pokémon also seemed to enjoy. In fact, this led to them quickly forming a friendship, which later led to Pagogo encouraging Charcadet to join Liko'steam. However, its chivalrous nature can work against it and even be exploited, such as seen inTaking the Next Steps, when Charcadet tried to take on extra burdens and fight aDouble Battle by itself, constantly trying to protect Meowscarada rather than trusting and working alongside it, which led to its teammate being defeated once their opponent thought to take advantage of this. After seeing the result of its actions and hearingDiana's words, Charcadet learned to rely on its teammates more, and, inHZ118, was seen working together with Meowscarada andHatterene to save aDitto.
Armarouge and Liko quickly formed an irreplaceable bond due to their similarities, as their strong compassion and willingness to fight for others were what brought them together. As a result of this, Armarouge always gives its all for Liko, especially duringPokémon battles. It strides to uphold the promise they made when it wascaught, to protect Liko from danger and keep her safe. Through Liko and Pagogo, Armarouge became close friends with Meowscarada and Hatterene, even seeing them as its older sisters. However, upon witnessing Meowscarada and Hatterene's selflessness and skills in battle, Armarouge has come to admire them and consider them its mentors. Armarouge maintians its bond with its teammates after evolving.
SinceCharcadet's Wish, Armarouge has developed a rivalry withAmethio's Ceruledge; however, it also respects his battling skills and doesn't mind teaming up with him in battle. Armarouge has also shown high regard for otherFire-type Pokémon, such asRoy's Skeledirge andFriede's Charizard, and has been seen sparring with the former, even continuing doing so after evolving. Armarouge has a burning passion for battling, arguably more so than any Pokémon on Liko's team, and will battle any opponent, particularly other Fire types. In addition, Armarouge enjoys finding ways to become stronger and gets fired up with the idea, as seen inBetter, Farther, Stronger!. Armarouge has shown to always be ready to train, even quickly finishing its food so it won't fall behind. After evolving, Armarouge has become much stronger in battle.
