Kōichi Yamadera

Kōichi Yamadera (Japanese:山寺宏一Yamadera Kōichi) is a Japanese voice actor who provides the voices of main and/or supporting characters in all of thePokémon movies.

Biography

Yamadera was born on June 17, 1961, inMiyagi Prefecture,Japan. In 1994, he was married to fellow voice actress かないみかMika Kanai, who also provides voices onPokémon the Series; the two divorced in 2006. On June 17, 2012, he married another fellow voice actress,Rie Tanaka, but he eventually divorced once again on August 4, 2018.

In addition to being a popular voice actor, Yamadera also hosts a children's series,Oha Suta, and he has had several live-action roles, including some in recentGodzilla movies. He also provides dub voices for variousWalt Disney roles, such asDonald Duck,Genie,Beast, andStitch.

Yamadera has had a main or supporting role in every one of the Pokémon movies, including the live-action filmPOKÉMON Detective Pikachu. He has voiced only two characters in theanimated series and another one in aspecial episode thus far.
