Iron Boulder (Japanese:テツノイワオTetsunoiwao) is a dual-typeRock/PsychicParadox Pokémon introduced duringGeneration IX, inThe Indigo Disk.

While it is not known toevolve into or from any other Pokémon, Iron Boulder is said to be either a future relative ofTerrakion or a version of it from a parallel timeline.

Biology

Iron Boulder's head rotating as it faints

Iron Boulder is a spherical, bull-like Pokémon coated in a reflective metal. It has a black, rounded forehead adorned with two brown, rotatable, axe-like horns that curve forward. The edge of the horns and the top of the head are colored bright orange blaze. The horns can transform into rounded blade cleaves when attacking. The blades can extend to the width of its head. Its face is grey with digital orange eyes and a short, metal snout. On top of its head are several short spikes. Down its back are two black, spine ridges that join just past its humped shoulders. It has a black circle surrounding its head. There are two orange metal protrusions on its shoulders. The orange blaze bands around its legs are the same color as its horns and forehead. It has grey metal hooves underneath these bands. Its striped underside is also beige. The grey parts of its body have several dark grey lines connecting to different parts. Iron Boulder also has a short, stubby metal tail and can fully rotate its head.

Iron Boulder's blades extending while usingMighty Cleave

Iron Boulder was first discovered inArea Zero and is said to have originally been an ordinaryTerrakion modified by avillainous organization. It stores laser-like energy within its sharp, axe-like horns, which it uses to plow through any obstacle in its path.[1] This energy is accumulated from the light stored within its head.[2] It canwield this stored light to rend its opponents. The horns can additionally be imbued withpsychic energy while using physical attacks. Iron Boulder's name originates from a mysterious object recorded inViolet Book. While asleep, the orange energy on its head, horns, and feet turns black.

According toAI Turo, Iron Boulder is a future Pokémon related to Terrakion. However, according to a version of Professor Turo that appeared at theCrystal Pool, Iron Boulder is a counterpart of Terrakion from another timeline. Its true origin is unknown. Iron Boulder was brought to the depths of Area Zero by atime machine built by Professor Turo ten years ago. 200 years ago,Heath also encountered Iron Boulder, as seen in the Violet Book, though it is unclear how it arrived there at the time.

Iron Boulder is theonly known Pokémon capable of learning the moveMighty Cleave.
