Hurricane (Japanese:ぼうふうWindstorm) is a damage-dealingFlying-typemove introduced inGeneration V.

It is:

Effect

Generation V

Hurricane deals damage and has a 30% chance ofconfusing the target. Hurricane can hit non-adjacent targets inTriple Battles.

Hurricane can hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turns ofFly,Bounce, andSky Drop.

When used duringrain, Hurricane bypassesaccuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in thesemi-invulnerable turn of a move such asDig orDive. When used duringharsh sunlight, it has an accuracy of 50%.

Generation VI onwards

Hurricane's power changed from 120 to 110.

Hurricane can be used as part of aContest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if the moveRain Dance was used in the prior turn.

Hurricane is awind move.

Generation VIII

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Hurricane's power has been lowered to 100. It also can no longer confuse the target, since the status condition is not present in this game.

Generation IX

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Hurricane functions similarly toThunder andBlizzard (coincidentally all moves that have 70% accuracy in the turn-based games). Upon the wind-up completing a small whirlwind effect appears underneath the target's current location, which intensifies into a damaging windstorm after a delay. Due to howBounce andFly function in Z-A, Hurricane has no effect against targets using those moves while they are not visible on the screen.
