Honey (Japanese:あまいミツSweet Honey) is a type ofitem introduced inGeneration IV. It can be used to attractwild Pokémon.

Effect
Generation IV-VII
When used intall grass,caves, or whilesurfing, Honey triggers awild Pokémon battle (likeSweet Scent as afield move). InGeneration VI, this will trigger aHorde Encounter if they are present in the area; however, inPokémon X and Y, it cannot cause a wild encounter if the overworldweather is not clear.
InSinnoh, Honey can be slathered onHoney Trees in order to attract wild Pokémon.
Oddities
InPokémon Diamond and Pearl only, using Honey (or Sweet Scent) inside a shop orPoké Mart will cause the descriptive text of purchasable items to vanish until the player opens the "SELL" menu or leaves the shop. This is known as thePoké Mart text glitch.
Generation VIII onward
InPokémon Sword and Shield andPokémon Scarlet and Violet, Honey serves no practical purpose other than to be sold.
InPokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Honey can again be used to trigger awild Pokémon battle intall grass orcaves, and can be slathered onHoney Trees in order to attract wild Pokémon.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series
Though unavailable as an item inPokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, Honey is mentioned as being a food produced by theBeedrill andCombee ofNectar Meadow, overseen by their queen and managerVespiquen. Due to its nutritious properties,Budew heads to Nectar Meadow to obtain some Honey for her ailingmother, despite being warned that the Pokémon are usually on edge during their Honey-making season. Misunderstood as a Honey thief, Budew is rescued in time by the player and partner from the angry Beedrill and Combee. After they are defeated, Vespiquen intervenes and resolves the misunderstanding, and gifts Budew with some Honey.

Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
InSome Enchanted Sweetening!, Honey was slathered on a tree, attracting several wildBug-type andGrass-type Pokémon as wellAsh's Aipom andCheryl'sBurmy. The Honey appeared to have been slathered by Cheryl, who wanted to catch a male Burmy to help her find the Enchanted Honey. Cheryl later explained to the group that Enchanted Honey was Honey gathered byCombee in theAmber Castle, located deep inEterna Forest, which is said to be hundreds of times sweeter than normal Honey. With the help ofAsh andhis friends, and with herMothim leading the way, she located the hive of aVespiquen and its many worker Combee. After helping defend the hive fromTeam Rocket, the Vespiquen shared some of its Enchanted Honey with Cheryl, Ash, his friends, and some of their Pokémon. All of them loved the Enchanted Honey, except forBrock's Croagunk, who looked disgusted by the sweet flavor.
InA Trainer and Child Reunion!, Honey was used byTeam Rocket in an attempt to catchAaron's Vespiquen. It instead attracted aMunchlax.
InStrategy Begins at Home!, Honey was planted on a tree by a young boy namedNathaniel, which attracted aHeracross.
In a flashback inHistorical Mystery Tour!, it was revealed thatBarry used Honey to attract his Heracross. He repeated this same scenario in an illusionary adventure that aClown sent him to.

Diamond & Pearl arc
InHoney for Combee, asDiamond,Pearl, andPlatinum ventured intoFloaroma Meadow, Diamond and his Pokémon smelled Honey and ran off to lick it off a tree, only to be attacked by a swarm of angryCombee, whom the Honey had been meant for. Later, the trio ventured into theValley Windworks, where they metMars, who filled the Windworks control room withsand in order to do away with them. Pearl and Platinum ended up outside the building and were able to uncover Diamond's location inside the building and save him thanks to a group of Combee being attracted by the scent of Honey on Diamond and his Pokémon.
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!
InFind Munchlax!!, aCollector used Honey in an attempt to lure out aMunchlax. However, the Honey instead ended up being eaten away byHareta.
In the TCG

Sweet Honey was introduced as anItem card in thePokémon Trading Card Game during the English Sword & Shield Series (the Japanese Sword & Shield Era). It was first released in the JapaneseBattle Region subset and the EnglishAstral Radiance expansion, with artwork byORBITALLINK Inc. It allows the player to choose one of their Pokémon, flip a coin until they get tails, and heal 40 damage from that Pokémon for each heads.
Additionally, Honey is held byCombee fromStormfront. It allows the player to search their discard pile for a Basic Pokémon and put it onto their Bench when Combee is moved from their hand onto their Bench.

- The Honey is present in the game data ofPokémon GO, but is unused.
- Honey may originally have been planned forGeneration II, where unused text refers to an item calledSweet Honey (Japanese:あまいミツSweet Honey).
- Regular honey has been seen in various Pokémoncanons, even before its official debut in Generation IV:
- InA Sappy Ending, certain trees that produce honey-like sap were featured. Like the Honey in the games, this sap was also shown being capable of attracting wildBug Pokémon, likeHeracross,Butterfree, andPinsir.
- InWake Up—You're Snorlax!,Red used someBeedrill honey that had fallen on hisBulbasaur to wake up a sleepingSnorlax. As a result, the awoken Snorlax ended up chasing Red until he eventuallycaught it.
