Holowear

Holowear is a type of holographic clothing that can be worn byPokémon inPokémon UNITE. It is made using Aeos energy.
Most Holowear can be purchased by
Aeos Gems or
Holowear Tickets, but some can be obtained through other methods.
Rarities
Holowear comes in several rarities, which are distinguished by their tag:
- Green-tag Holowear
(Chinese:精良Fine) is the most basic tag of Holowear, and comes in two "grades". - Blue-tag Holowear
(Chinese:稀有Rare) is a step up from Green-tag Holowear and generally includes additional effects for knock-outs and movement, though some may only have effects for movement. - Purple-tag Holowear
is a premium kind of Holowear that is a step up from Blue-tag Holowear. This rarity tier can be split up into two "grades" which do have unique icons in the Chinese client, but both grades of Purple-tag Holowear are denoted by the same icon in the international client, which is the icon the Chinese client uses to denote the more premium grade of Purple-tag Holowear.- The basic grade of Purple-tag Holowear (Chinese:史诗Epic) contains everything found in Blue-tag Holowear and also provides costumes to the pre-evolutions of the Pokémon as well as effects for scoring and returning. In addition, they have unique Holowear art that is displayed on both menus and on their license card pre-battle. They also usually come pre-bundled with a matching profile icon frame. These Holowear are marked with the
tag in the Chinese client of the game. - The more premium grade of Purple-tag Holowear (Chinese:超凡Extraordinary) also have animated Holowear art and additional effects for the Unite move, and a special demo video when selected. Select Premium grade Purple-tag Holowear also include move effects baseline without the need to obtain any Move Effect Enhancement Pack.

- Orange-tag Holowear
(Chinese:传说Legendary) is a premium kind of Holowear that is a step up from Purple-tag Holowear. They have additional move effects and basic attack effects. - Crystal-tag Holowear
(Chinese:极光Aurora), Sometimes refered to as "Aurora-tag" from its name in the Chinese Client is the most premium kind of Holowear. It is currently only distributed throughTreasure Chest Challenge events. In addition to everything found in Orange-tag Holowear, it contains additional "deluxe" Scoring and Returning effects (which features sound effects), as well as additional effects when reviving or destroying a base.
In addition to the tiered raities, there are two kinds of promotional Holowear tags. These tags however use one of the above tiered rarities as a baseline rarity (as indicated by the outline given to the skin in the battle loading screen), however their tag icon is swapped to one of the following to indicate the skin's status as a promotional skin:
- Limited Holowear
: Is a special kind of Blue-tag Holowear awarded during certain promotions.Festival Style Pikachu is the only piece of this Holowear to carry this tag. In addition to all the properties of Blue-tag holowear, it has unique Holowear art (which is a quality otherwise reserved for basic grade Purple-tag Holowear). - Battle Pass Holowear
: Is a special promotional Premium kind of Holowear, that can be either Purple-tag or Orange-tag. These skins are initially found only in Battle Passes, though they may later be made available through other means, primarily in thePrize Machine. The Pokémon given this tag differ between the Chinese and International client owing to differences inBattle Pass composition.
Holowear of the Month
When theUNITE Club Membership was launched, it included a free monthly Green-tag Holowear for members. As of September 2024, however, this has been discontinued.
Move Effect Enhancement Packs
Select Purple-tag Holowear have additionalMove Effect Enhancement Packs which are generally made available through thePrize Machine for 10 points each. These customize move effects of all moves in either the Pokémon's first move slot or second move slot. Generally they are made available as two separate packs meaning to get move effects of all of a Holowear's moveset, both packs for that Holowear must be owned. Premium grade Purple-tag Holowear that already includes Move Effects doesn't have any additional Move Effect Enhancement Packs that can be obtained.
Move Effect Enhancement Packs exist for the following Holowear:
| Basic grade Purple-tag Holowear: These lack effects for the UNITE Move; even after the corresponding Move Effect Enhancement Packs are applied | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium grade Purple-tag Holowear: These have effects for the UNITE Move applied to the base Holowear | |||||
Button Customization Packs
Select Orange and Crystal-tag Holowear haveButton Customization Packs which may be purchased additionally in thein-game shop for
199. These customise both the control joystick and ability buttons on the mobile version of Pokémon UNITE, and as such they must also be purchased from the mobile version's shop (meaning you cannot buy them if you only have Aeos Gems on the Nintendo Switch version of the game).
Button Customization Packs are available for the following Holowear:

Mewtwo
Mewtwo is a special case, as both licenses share the same Holowear (though not always released at the same time); but unlike other Pokémon with multiple licenses they are not cross-compatible. This means that Holowear obtained for Mewtwo (X) can only be used with Mewtwo (X) and Holowear obtained for Mewtwo (Y) can only be used with Mewtwo (Y). However, there are typically events allowing for Mewtwo (Y)'s Holowear to be obtained for free if the Holowear is obtained for Mewtwo (X). Alternatively, the Set Shop may also sell the player the missing Holowear for the nominal price of
1 when the matching Holowear for Mewtwo (X) is owned. Also, unlike other Mega Evolutions, Mewtwo's Holowear does display while Mega Evolved, however the Mega Evolved state is treated as a pre-evolution for this purpose (meaning it is typically only present on Purple-tag holowear or better).
