Reason: History & Role in Pokémon Masters EX

History

Hilbert has experienced similar events to hiscore series counterpart as theplayer character ofPokémon Black. Hilbert received hisfirst partner Pokémon,Oshawott, fromProfessor Juniper. While on hisjourney, Hilbert formedrivalries withCheren,Bianca, andN, and challenged theBattle Subway withHilda. Hilbert would also encounter and put a stop toTeam Plasma's plans, such as them trying to useVictini's powers for themselves.[3] Eventually Hilbert would go on to disbanded Team Plasma. After disbanding Team Plasma, Hilbert caught aKyurem atGiant Chasm. During Hilbert's journey, he caught a Mightyena, a Glaceon, and Thundurus.

At some point, Hilbert's original Samurott had an Egg while at aPokémon Day Care, which would later hatch into an Oshawott. Hilbert decided to bring this Oshawott with him toPasio.[4]

Oshawott → Dewott → Samurott

Oshawott can evolve into Dewott once it has reached level 30 through its sync pair storyOshawott's Evolution, and then into Samurott once it has reached level 45 through its sync pair storyDewott's Evolution.

Trivia

  • Hilbert is based on theplayer character inPokémon Black, as Cheren and Alder both have flashbacks to him having clashed with N over their ideologies, and N says that he metZekrom before meetingReshiram.
  • In hissync pair story, Hilbert reveals that the Oshawott he brought toPasio was hatched from anEgg he found after he left his original Samurott at aPokémon Day Care.
  • All versions of Hilbert use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon) and victory with them. Those Trainers includeHilda,Cheren,Bianca,Nate,Rosa,Alder, andN.
  • As revealed in a Pokémon Center conversation, Hilbert has a fear of ghosts.[8]
  • Sygna Suit Hilbert & Genesect's passiveskill Hilbert's Plan references theDrives that can be used to change the type of Genesect'sTechno Blast in thecore series games.
    • Unlike the core series games, however, Genesect does not change itsform when changing the type of Techno Blast, instead remaining in its base form.
  • Genesect first appears inTeam Plasma's hideout during theUnova chapter of theVillain Arc, from which it is freed by N. After being treated at thePokémon Center, it teams up with Hilbert, later forming a proper sync pair with him.
  • Hilbert'sKyurem may be a reference to the Kyurem that is catchable during the post-game of Black and White. In addition, Hilbert'sBe the Best! Pokémon B+Wcounterpart is also depicted with a Kyurem.

Origin

Hilbert's design is based on his appearance inPokémon Black and White. Oshawott is one of thefirst partner Pokémon ofUnova in thecore series games. In addition,Hilbert's Pocket Monsters BW: Meetings with the Legends counterpart is depicted with Oshawott and itsEvolutions. Oshawott and Samurott'sDex entries come fromPokémon Black 2 and White 2, and Dewott's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Black.

Hilbert's Glaceon may be based on the Eevee that can be obtained as agift Pokémon during an event in Japan for Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2. Glaceon's Dex entry comes fromPokémon Ultra Sun.

Thundurus is aLegendary Pokémon that is encountered and can potentially be caught by the player in Pokémon White. Thundurus's Dex entry comes from Pokémon White.

Hilbert is not seen owning a Mightyena outside this game. Mightyena's Dex entry comes fromPokémon Ruby.

Genesect is an event-exclusiveMythical Pokémon that was introduced inGeneration V, just like Hilbert was, though Genesect was first distributed in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, in which Hilbert did not appear. Genesect's Dex entry comes from Pokémon White.

White Kyurem was introduced in Generation V, as Hilbert was, but did not appear until Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, which Hilbert did not appear in. As the player character of Pokémon Black, Hilbert owns a Reshiram, which is one half of the fusion for White Kyurem. Kyurem's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
