Hasbro is anAmerican toy company based inPawtucket, Rhode Island. It is the world's second largest toy maker, next toMattel. Hasbro has produced numerous toys for thePokémon franchise, ranging fromPoké Balls to thePokédex. In May 1998, it was reported that Hasbro licensedPokémon through a deal withNintendo and4Kids Entertainment.[1] In 1999, Hasbro acquiredWizards of the Coast and, in turn, the license to thePokémon Trading Card Game until Wizards of the Coast lost the license to it in 2003. Hasbro is long time business partners withTakara Tomy; importing Japanese toys such asTransformers andBeyblade to the western world.
Hasbro currently is not producing anyPokémon merchandise. Most of the Pokémon toys on the market today are manufactured byJakks Pacific,Takara Tomy, andWicked Cool Toys/Jazwares.
