AGym Challenger (Japanese:ジムチャレンジャーGym Challenger) is a type ofTrainer class introduced inGeneration VIII. They are Trainers who compete inGalar'sGym Challenge. Although characters such as theplayer andrivals are referred to as Gym Challengers inSword and Shield's in-game dialogues, they instead usePokémon Trainer as their Trainer class. Gym Challenger, as a Trainer class, is exclusively used by Trainers that participate in theChampion tournaments atWyndon Stadium. These Trainers allspecialize in one specific type.

Gym Challengers keep their Pokémon inGreat Balls.
