TheGriseous Orb (Japanese:はっきんだまPlatinum Orb) is a type ofheld item introduced inPokémon Platinum. It boosts the power ofDragon- andGhost-type moves when held byGiratina, and prior toPokémon Legends: Arceus, it would change Giratina into itsOrigin Forme while held. It is one of theorbs associated with thePokémon of myth.

Generations IV to VIII
If held byGiratina, it increases thepower of itsDragon- andGhost-type moves by 20%.
Unaffected by item negating effects (such asEmbargo andKlutz). Item manipulating effects (such asTrick andFling) cannot give Giratina a Griseous Orb or remove a Griseous Orb from Giratina.
Generation IX
The Griseous Orb is now affected by item manipulating and negating effects due to no longer causing Giratina to change form.
Outside of battle
From Generation IV to VIII, the Griseous Orb allows Giratina to remain in itsOrigin Forme outside of theDistortion World. InPokémon Scarlet and Violet, theGriseous Core must be held to transform Giratina into its Origin Forme instead.
InPokémon Platinum andHeartGold and SoulSilver, only Giratina can hold a Griseous Orb, and Pokémon holding a Griseous Orb cannot betraded. From Generation V onward, these restrictions no longer apply.
