Gravity (Japanese:じゅうりょくGravity) is a non-damagingPsychic-typemove introduced inGeneration IV. It isTM178 inPokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Effect

Gravity causes the field to undergo intense gravity. This effect lasts 5 turns. It fails if used when Gravity is in effect.

During intense gravity, theaccuracy of all moves (exceptOHKO moves) is multiplied by 5/3 inGeneration IV or 6840/4096 (approximately 1.67) inGeneration V onward.

Intense gravity causes all Pokémon on the field to becomegrounded. Grounded Pokémon lose their immunity toGround-type moves due to theirFlying type,Levitate Ability, effects ofMagnet Rise orTelekinesis, or their heldAir Balloon. Grounded Pokémon are now also vulnerable toArena Trap andentry hazards;Poison-type Pokémon that are usually airborne will removeToxic Spikes when switched in during the effects of Gravity. Grounded Pokémon also become affected byterrains.

Intense gravity also prevents Pokémon from using the movesBounce,Fly,Flying Press,High Jump Kick,Jump Kick,Magnet Rise,Sky Drop,Splash andTelekinesis. If a Pokémon is in the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly or Bounce when Gravity is used, that move is canceled immediately. If a Pokémon has no other usable moves besides the moves blocked by Gravity, it will useStruggle.

UsingGrav Apple under intense gravity has 50% increasedpower.

In Generation V only, due toa glitch, if Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state ofSky Drop, Gravity will bring the user of Sky Drop down, but the target of Sky Drop will be stuck unable to move in the semi-invulnerable state until the effect of Gravity ends, the user of Sky Drop switches out or is knocked out, or the Pokémon affected by Sky Drop is knocked out. This can only occur inDouble andTriple Battles. In later generations, both the user and the target are properly brought down.

If powered up by aPsychium Z into Z-Gravity, the user'sSpecial Attack stat is raised by one stage.

Gravity intensifies thedungeon's gravity which causesFlying-type Pokémon and those withLevitate to become grounded, losing their immunity toGround-type moves. This effect also prevents the use ofBounce,Fly,Splash,Jump Kick,High Jump Kick andMagnet Rise, bringing Pokémon out of Fly and Bounce, and ending Magnet Rise's effect early.

FromSuper Mystery Dungeon, the floor condition now increases the accuracy of moves like in the core series games, as well as disablingTelekinesis,Sky Drop andFlying Press, on top of the other moves. Additionally, Pokémon with flying mobility lose it.
