Rulings

The following are rulings for the "Festival Lead" Ability. Note that a "Festival Lead" Pokémon can only attack twice ifFestival Grounds is in play.

  • The only attack considered for the "Festival Lead" Ability is the attack printed directly on the Pokémon card with the Ability ("this Pokémon may usean attack it has twice"). Cards that grant the Pokémon additional attacks such as Technical MachinePokémon Tool cards are not considered for "Festival Lead".[1][2]
  • If a player's Pokémon with "Festival Lead" has 1 Energy attached to it and uses an attack on the opponent's Active Pokémon withHandheld Fan attached, and the Energy is moved to the player's Benched Pokémon, the Attacking Pokémon with Festival Lead cannot attack the second time, as the Energy requirement is no longer satisfied.[2]
  • For interactions between a Pokémon with the "Festival Lead" Ability andFlutter Mane fromTemporal Forces, which has the "Midnight Fluttering" Ability that shuts down the opposing Active Pokémon's Ability:
    • If a player uses a "Festival Lead" Pokémon to Knock Out their opponent's Active Pokémon and the opponent sends out Flutter Mane with the "Midnight Fluttering" Ability as a replacement Active Pokémon, the "Festival Lead" Ability is immediately removed and the player may not attack a second time.[2]
    • If a player uses a "Festival Lead" Pokémon to Knock Out their opponent's Active Flutter Mane with the "Midnight Fluttering" Ability, the "Festival Lead" Ability reactivates upon the Flutter Mane being Knocked Out, and thus the "Festival Lead" Pokémon may attack a second time.[1][2]
