Fury Cutter (Japanese:れんぞくぎりConsecutive Cut) is a damage-dealingBug-typemove introduced inGeneration II. It wasTM49 in Generation II.

Effect

Generations II to IV

Fury Cutter starts with a base power of 10. Every time Fury Cutter hits the power will double, even if other moves are used in between. The power may double up to a maximum of 160 (which could take minimum 5 turns). If Fury Cutter misses, the user is switched out, or the player uses an item, the power will reset to normal.

Fury Cutter can be used as the second move of aPokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 3 bonus appeal points ifSwords Dance was used in the previous turn.

Generation V

Fury Cutter's base power increased from 10 to 20, meaning that it takes four consecutive turns to reach the maximum power of 160. If another move is selected, its power will reset.

Generation VI onwards

Fury Cutter's base power increased even further from 20 to 40, meaning that it takes three consecutive turns to reach the maximum power of 160. If used by a Pokémon withSharpness as itsAbility, its power is increased by 50%.

In-depth description

This move has a multiplier that starts at ×1, and after async pair connects with this move, this multiplier doubles for that specific pair to a maximum of ×8 (with four or more consecutive uses).[1] However, if the same sync pair performs any other action (i.e., another move that the user's Trainer or Pokémon uses—or even async move) mid-succession or if this move misses, then this multiplier resets to ×1.

Pokémon UNITE

In Pokémon UNITE, Fury Cutter isCrustle's second starting move. The user attacks once with his claws. Enemies hit by Fury Cutter receive a debuff that causes subsequent Fury Cutter attacks to deal 20% additional damage, with a maximum of two debuff stacks. Additional damage from this debuff is always rounded up. Fury Cutter can critically hit; however, the user's base critical hit chance is 0%. At level 6 this move is replaced by eitherStealth Rock orX-Scissor.
