Flip Turn (Japanese:クイックターンQuick Turn) is a damage-dealingWater-typemove introduced duringGeneration VIII, inThe Isle of Armor. It isTM196 inPokémon Scarlet and Violet andTM008 inPokémon Legends: Z-A.

Effect

Flip Turn dealsdamage and thenswitches the user out.

The user will not be switched out if the user is the only Pokémon in theparty that is able to battle, if Flip Turn fails to hit the target, if Flip Turn triggers an opponent'sWimp Out orEmergency Exit, or if using Flip Turn ends the battle. Flip Turn will not switch the user out if the user is holding aRed Card or the target is holding anEject Button.

If the player's Pokémon knocks out an opposing Trainer's Pokémon by using Flip Turn, the replacement that the player sends out will not be considered to have battled forexperience purposes, but if it holds anAmulet Coin orLuck Incense that item will be taken into account when calculatingprize money. In switch-style battles, the player will still have the ability to switch Pokémon between opponent's Pokémon fainting.

Flip Turn switches the user out even if it is under the effect ofIngrain,Arena Trap,Magnet Pull,Shadow Tag,Mean Look, orBlock.
