TheFirium Z (Japanese:ホノオＺFlame Z) is a type ofZ-Crystal introduced inPokémon Sun and Moon. It is thetype-specific Z-Crystal associated with theFire type and allows Pokémon to upgrade their Fire-type moves toZ-Moves.

Unaffected by item negating effects (such asEmbargo andKlutz). Item manipulating effects (such asTrick andFling) cannot remove a Z-Crystal from a Pokémon.

Multitype changes anArceus holding this item to its Fire-typeform.Rayquaza cannotMega Evolve if it holds a Z-Crystal.

Outside of battle

A held Firium Z is automatically removed if the Pokémon istraded between players.

InAlola to New Adventure!, a Firium Z was shown onKiawe'sZ-Ring, which he obtained by completingOlivia'sgrand trial. He uses it to performInferno Overdrive with hisTurtonator andMarowak. InYoung Kiawe Had a Farm!, Kiawe revealed that his Z-Ring and Firium Z previously belonged tohis grandfather.

A full set oftype-specificZ-Crystals, including the Firium Z, appeared inA Grand Debut!, whereHapu allowedAsh to choose hisgrand trial prize from them.

InA Timeless Encounter!, a youngProfessor Kukui was revealed to own a Firium Z, which he briefly lent to Ash for him and hisTorracat to show him Inferno Overdrive. Later in the episode, Ash received his own Firium Z from aTotem Trevenant after helping to remove theCutiefly that had gotten stuck in its branches, with Kukui revealing that he had obtained his Firium Z from it as well.

A full set of replicas of the type-specific Z-Crystals, including the Firium Z, appeared inA Team-on-Team Tussle!, where they were shown to Ash andhis classmates by Professor Kukui.

InHomecoming and the Brilliant Professional Golfer,Kiawe found a Firium Z hidden in the fur ofSun'sLitten,Dollar. After learning the proper Z-Move pose from Kiawe, Sun was successfully able to performInferno Overdrive with Dollar during a battle withGladion.
