Elaine (Japanese:アユミAyumi) is the femaleplayer character inPokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. Her male counterpart isChase. She is analogous toRed as he appears inGeneration I andPokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, along withLeaf as she appears in the latter two games.

In the core series games

Elaine is a young girl fromPallet Town. Her adventure begins one day whenProfessor Oak calls her and her friendTrace to his lab for afirst partner Pokémon. Elaine picks aPikachuP or anEeveeE, while Trace picks the opposite Pokémon. Oak also gives them each aPokédex with which to record data on all known Pokémon in theKantoregion to fulfill Oak's dream of creating a full guide on all of the Pokémon in Kanto.

From here, Elaine and Trace journey across Kanto, collecting Pokémon to build up their teams, and defeating each of theGym Leaders in turn. During their journey, they also have multiple encounters withBlue, anotherTrainer from Pallet Town who went on his own journey years earlier.

While traversing throughMt. Moon, Elaine has her first encounter with thecriminal organization calledTeam Rocket, which uses Pokémon for their own gain and profit. In addition to the organization's leader,Giovanni, Elaine also has multiple run-ins with theTeam Rocket AdminArcher and theTeam Rocket trio ofJessie,James, andMeowth. Occasionally receiving assistance from Trace, Elaine thwarts all of Team Rocket's schemes, most notably their takeover of theSilph Co. inSaffron City. Finally, when Elaine challenges theViridian Gym for her finalBadge, she finds out that Giovanni is actually the final Gym Leader. After being defeated at his strongest, Giovanni gives Elaine theEarth Badge and disbands Team Rocket in order to focus on bettering himself as a Trainer.

After going throughVictory Road, Elaine arrives at thePokémon League atIndigo Plateau, where she confronts and defeats theElite Four. Upon being defeated, Elite Four memberLance reveals that Trace managed to defeat the Elite Four before her and become theChampion first. Elaine and Trace battle for one last time, with Elaine defeating him and making her the new Champion.

After becoming Champion, Elaine travels toCerulean Cave to catch the mysterious PokémonMewtwo, encounters an equally mysterious girl calledGreen, learns of Archer's plan to resurrect Team Rocketsomeday, and challenges the 145Master Trainers who have appeared around Kanto. Once she has defeated six Master Trainers, Elaine challenges another previous Pallet Town Champion, the silent TrainerRed, to a battle at Indigo Plateau.

If Elaine is not selected as the main character, she appears to assist the player when they useSupport Play, known only as aSupport Trainer. Her appearance mirrorsChase's current appearance.
