Eeveelution
- This article is about theevolutionary line ofEevee. For theTheme Deck released with theSkyridge expansion, seeEeveelution (TCG).For thedeck archetype, seeEeveelutions.

Eevee and itsevolved forms are a group ofPokémon known for having the most members of any evolutionary line.
Eeveelution (Japanese:イーブイズEVs[1]) refers to any of the eight Pokémon that evolve from Eevee and may be extended to include Eevee itself. It is a portmanteau of the words "Eevee" and "evolution". The term "Eeveelutions" is often used by fans to refer to Eevee and its evolved forms collectively.Veevee (Japanese:ブイブイVeevee) is a related term that usually refers to Eevee but has also been used in reference to its evolved forms.
In early guidebooks, they have also been referred to asEevee forms[2] orEevee-forms.[3]
Terminology

(Japanese: ブイブイメールVeevee Mail)
"Eeveelution" was originally afan term before being used officially as a pun in thePokémon Stadium 2 guidebook.[4] It was later used for the TCGTheme DeckEeveelution and mentioned in the "Murph's Ranger Contest"Quest inPokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.[5] Additionally, "Eevee-Lu-Tion", referring toLu theEevee, is the title ofthe 31st chapter ofMagical Pokémon Journey. The term is also used in officialsocial media, such as for anEvolving Skies commercial[6] and aBeyond the Pokédex short.[7]
"Veevee" was introduced with the Japanese name of theEon Mail (Japanese: ブイブイメールVeevee Mail) inGeneration II. The term was first used in English as the name ofY's Eevee in thePokémon Adventures manga. In the core series, the first English usage was for the moveVeevee Volley inPokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. In theBattle Tower fromPokémon Sword and Shield,Poké Kid Alex, who is dressed as an Eevee, mentions her "Veevee power".[8] InPokémon Scarlet and Violet andPokémon Masters EX,Penny affectionately uses the term "Veevees" to refer to her team of six Eeveelutions.
More commonly, Eevee's evolved forms are referred to by generic descriptions such as "Eevee Evolutions" or "Eevee's Evolutions" in official media, includingPokémon UNITE,Pokémon the Series, theTCG, andPokemon.com.[9][10][11][12]

In Let's Go, Pikachu!, Trace will always evolve his Eevee into aJolteon. With eight, Eevee has the mostbranched Evolutions. As such, in case of multipleEvolutionary conditions being met simultaneously, the following is true:Leafeon andGlaceon are prioritized overSylveon, and Sylveon is prioritized overEspeon andUmbreon.
Furthermore, Eevee will never evolve into:
- Any Eeveelution other thanVaporeon,Jolteon, andFlareon inPokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, as they are not present in those games.
- Espeon or Umbreon inPokémon Colosseum andPokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, due to the absence of aday-night cycle.

In the TCG

In thePokémon Trading Card Game, many sets featuring the Eeveelutions have been released. Commonly, all of them will be released within the same expansion set, much asFlareon,Jolteon, andVaporeon were originally released in theJungle expansion.
Included with theSkyridge expansion, also, is aTheme Deck by the name ofEeveelution, which features the original three Eeveelutions as the focus. However, the deck only includes the threeGeneration I Eeveelutions: whereasUmbreon was released in the set, Espeon was not.
There have also been severaldeck archetypes that revolve around the Eeveelutions, mostly due to their versatility and their lack of a unanimous weakness. One of these archetypes isEeveelutions, which utilizesPokémon-ex variants of all five then-known Eeveelutions. The use of this archetype has been assisted by the release of a great manyEnergy cards that provide more than one type of Energy, such asRainbow Energy. InMajestic Dawn,Glaceon andLeafeon were introduced to the TCG; the set also included all previous Eeveelutions. Sylveon was first introduced into the TCG inFurious Fists (if the XY Black Star Promos and the XY Trainer Kit are not counted). The most recent expansion to include the entire Eevee line isPrismatic Evolutions.
In merchandise
Eevee and its evolved forms were featured in theEevee Essences Collection.

Trivia
Eevee line
- Eevee's unique trait of evolving into different types can be traced back to a request made byGame Freak CEOSatoshi Tajiri to have a Pokémon that evolves into multiple types. Eevee itself was designed as a "blank slate" for its varied Evolutions.[13]
- Motofumi Fujiwara designed Eevee, Jolteon, and Flareon.Atsuko Nishida designed all of the other Eeveelutions.[13][14]
- This is the largest evolutionary line with a total of 9 Pokémon. It has always been the largest evolutionary line in previous generations as well, starting with a total of 4 Pokémon inGeneration I.
- This is the only evolutionary line with more than 5 species. It is also the only Evolutionary line which can't be fully fit into aparty.
- This evolutionary line has hadnew members introduced in the most generations (in this case, four generations).
- This is the only pre-existing evolutionary line with a new member introduced inGeneration VI (although several Pokémon receivedMega Evolutions in this generation, and some Pokémon introduced in this generation also received new Evolutions later).
- This is the onlybranched Evolutionary line where any of the branches is afriendship Evolution (Eevee intoEspeon,Umbreon, orSylveon) orlocation-based Evolution (Eevee intoLeafeon orGlaceon).
- This branched Evolutionary line has the largest number of options ofstone Evolutions, with five different stones.
- This is the only evolutionary line where none of the members share atype.
- This was the first availablebranched Evolution line, with no other branched evolutionary lines inGeneration I.
- Prior to the introduction of theGeneration II games (including thebreeding mechanic), obtaining all four Pokémon in the evolutionary line would require playing four savedGeneration I games as far asCeladon City or repeatedly winningthe gift Eevee from defeating the Elite Four and Champion inPokémon Stadium.
- InPokémon FireRed, LeafGreen,HeartGold, and SoulSilver, this is the only evolutionary line where some but not all of its members are obtainable in-game other than thetrade Evolutions.
- Specifically,Eevee'stime-based EvolutionsEspeon andUmbreon are unavailable in FireRed and LeafGreen, while itlocation-based EvolutionsLeafeon andGlaceon are unavailable in HeartGold and SoulSilver due to the lack of theMoss Rock andIce Rock.
- Eevee is the only member of this line to have an exclusiveZ-Move andZ-Crystal.
- Flareon is the only member of this line with a type advantage over more than one of the others.
- Jolteon is the only member of this line without an obvious tail. However, inThe Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, it is shown to have a stubby tail under its spikes.
- Vaporeon is the only member of this line that does not share any weakness with another member.
- Umbreon is the only member of this line with animmunity against the type of another, in this case Espeon.
- Umbreon is the only member of this line to have been introduced with a uniquetype combination, in this case being the only pureDark-type Pokémon inGeneration II.
- Sylveon is the only member of this line to have been introduced alone in a generation.
Evolved forms
- All ofPenny's Pokémon are Eeveelutions, making her the only notable character in the games to use a full team of Eeveelutions.
- All Eeveelutions initially evolved using a method that was introduced in their respective generations.
- SinceGeneration VIII, alternativemethods of Evolution have been introduced for Leafeon and Glaceon, while Sylveon's Evolution requirement ofaffection was replaced byfriendship.
- With the exception of Sylveon, all Eeveelutions are oftypes that were consideredspecial prior toGeneration IV. The only special type not included isDragon.
- Espeon is the only Eeveelution not to have a type advantage over another.
- All Eeveelutions have a base stat total of 525.
- Umbreon is the only Eeveelution not to have more than a 65 base Attack and Special Attack.
- Leafeon is the only Eeveelution whose base stat in Special Defense is lower than 95.
- No Eeveelution has HP or Special Defense as its lowest base stat.
