Dude (Japanese:おにいさんDude) is aTrainer onRoute 29 right outsideNew Bark Town inPokémon Gold, Silver, andCrystal. He notices theplayer pass by a few times and decides to teach them how to catchPokémon. He is theGeneration II equivalent of theold man and was replaced withLyra orEthan inPokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

- He, theold man, andPrimo are the onlyNPCs to receive a back sprite but not a front one.
- In the German version of Crystal, if both theplayer'sparty and the currentPC Box are full,the player will receive a large amount of money from the dude. If done so on the Virtual Console release, the tutorial willfreeze the game.
