Creatures, Inc. (Japanese:株式会社(かぶしきがいしゃ)クリーチャーズKabushiki gaisha Creatures) is an affiliate ofThe Pokémon Company (which itself is ajoint venture byNintendo,Game Freak, and Creatures).[1] It was founded on November 8, 1995,[1] byTsunekazu Ishihara, with the assistance ofSatoru Iwata.[2][3] Creatures is one of the companies responsible for producing and licensing various aspects of thePokémon franchise, including thePokémon Trading Card Game and other merchandise inJapan. Creatures owns one third of the copyright to the Pokémon franchise (the other two thirds owned by Game Freak and Nintendo). Its current president and CEO isYuji Kitano, who succeeded the president position fromTsunekazu Ishihara and the CEO position fromHirokazu Tanaka in April 2023.[4][5][6]

The company was founded after the development team of Ape Inc. (known for creating theEarthBound series of video games) was disbanded. Ape still exists for the purpose of managing its IPs, and is an associate company of Nintendo andHobonichi.[7][8]

As of April 2025, Creatures has 274 employees.[1]
