TheCortondo Gym (Japanese:セルクルジムCercle Gym) is the officialGym ofCortondo. It is based onBug-typePokémon. TheGym Leader isKaty.Trainers who defeat her receive theBug Badge.
In the core series games
Like all other Gyms inPaldea, the Cortondo Gym building itself is simply used for registering Gym challengers. The Gym Test takes place on the olive-rolling field on the outskirts of Cortondo, inSouth Province (Area Two), while the Gym battle is conducted on a loft above the Patisserie Soapberry, Katy's bakery.
Gym Test
The Gym Test of the Cortondo Gym is theOlive Roll, in which the objective is to roll a giant olive to the finish line. There are two shortcuts to the goal, blocked by optionalGym Trainers and rows ofSmoliv. Defeating a Gym Trainer moves them and the Smoliv aside. Theplayer is allowed to rideKoraidonS/MiraidonV during the Gym Test and use it to push the ball over the fence walls that make up the maze.
The player cannot use the Map,Pokédex, Camera, or any other D-Pad functions during the test. Pressing Y will instead ask the player if they want to quit the test. The player can save the game mid-test, but it will be reset (with the player, camera, and ball in their starting positions) after reloading the game.
After completing the Olive Roll once, it is temporarily unavailable until Katy is defeated. After defeating Katy, the Olive Roll can be repeated, although the layout will change to a more difficult one including ramps and vertical structures that can be fallen off of. It is not possible to repeat the original layout. The more difficult layout also tracks time and has the goal of completing it as quickly as possible; challengers can earn variouspicnic-related rewards depending on how much time was taken to finish. The target times are 10 minutes, 5 minutes, and 2.5 minutes.
During the Gym Test (the original layout), the field is surrounded by invisible walls and the player cannot jump or fall out of the area. However during the more difficult layout, the player is able to jump or fall out, which will reset everything to its starting position while a fade-out animation plays (costing the player time).

The Cortondo Gym appeared inPut Your Heart Into It!, whereLiko tookKaty on in aTera Training battle. Initially, Liko was on the defensive, with Katy'sTeddiursa, Teddy, being able to stopFloragato's attacks withCharm andSweet Scent before hitting her hard withSlash. Although Liko was eventually able to counter the Sweet Scent by blowing it away withMagical Leaf and thenTerastallizing her partner, Katy countered this by Terastallizing Teddy into aBug type, giving it the type advantage and allowing it to easily defeat Floragato. Despite her loss, though, Liko still received a positive review from Katy about her use of Terastallization and passed the test.

Scarlet & Violet arc
The Cortondo Gym appeared inSkillful! The Mysterious Treasure Hunter!!. Upon arriving atCortondo to challenge the Gym for a second time,Nemona was delighted to learn thatScarlet was currently undergoing the local Gym Test, which she immediately went to watch. After Scarlet had completed the Olive Roll without battling any of theGym Trainers, she was allowed to faceKaty, who had noticed her using herTarountula's sticky thread in order to help her in the Olive Roll, but she didn't mind.
Following a tie between bothTrainers' Tarountula, Scarlet proceeded to defeat Katy'sNymble withSprigatito, purposefully leaving it out to bait Katy intoTerastallizing herTeddiursa into aBug type, allowing her to then defeat it using herFlying Tera TypePikachu, making Scarlet the winner. However, she refused to take theGym Badge, saying she didn't need it. Unsurprised, Katy then offered her some of her pastries instead, with Nemona explaining that due to the popularity of Katy'spâtisserie, it was hard to get to order any of her pastries, so people often challenge her just to get to taste them. Having heard Scarlet's stomach rumbling earlier, Katy had assumed her being one of those people as well, though Scarlet, while admitting she was hungry, said that she was only after information regarding thetreasures of ruin. Unfortunately, Katy wasn't able to tell her anything, so Scarlet left as soon as she had eaten her fill and received herprize money.
