Location

Location of Circhester inGalar.

Circhester (Japanese:キルクスタウンCircus Town) is a large town situated in a cold, mountainous part of the northeasternGalarregion. The town is accessible by land viaRoute 8 andRoute 9, both to the south. The city has three main north-south avenues and three oriented from east to west, all of which are paved with stone.

Circhester's buildings are all constructed out of stone bricks and feature old-fashioned designs. A large hot spring runs underneath the city and surfaces at various locations including a pond in the middle of a large roundabout in the south, and in the ancient Hero's Bath structure in the city center. Due to the cold climate, Circhester experiences perpetual snowfall. Piles of snow are found on the pavement, roofs and trees, and severalIce-type Pokémon can be seen around the city.

Gordie serves as Circhester'sGym Leader in Pokémon Sword, and specializes inRock-type Pokémon. In Pokémon Shield, theIce-type specialistMelony is the Gym Leader instead.

Demographics

Circhester comprises a Pokémon Center, Circhester Stadium, the Hero's Bath, Hotel Ionia, a boutique, a hair salon, a steak restaurant named Bob's Your Uncle, and six houses. The total permanent population of the city is 92.

Circhester Stadium

Circhester Stadium is the site at which the sixth installment in theGalarregion'sGym Challenge takes place. It is located in the northernmost part of the town, up a long ramp leading past the Hero's Bath. In Pokémon Sword,Gordie is the city'sGym Leader, specializing inRock-type Pokémon. TheIce-type specialistMelony is the Gym Leader in Pokémon Shield. Upon defeating the Gym Leader, theplayer receives theRock Badge in Pokémon Sword and theIce Badge in Pokémon Shield.

As with every Stadium in the region, the Circhester Stadium contains aPoké Mart and a uniform shop. TheBall Guy in this Stadium gives the player aMoon Ball.

The boutique is located on the eastern side of Circhester, to the east of the Hero's Bath.

Female options

Hero's Bath

The Hero's Bath, also known as Circhester Bath, is an ancient stone pillar structure containing a rectangular hot spring located in the center of Circhester. According to legend, the two heroes who saved Galar from theDarkest Day bathed in the Hero's Bath to heal and rest.

Move tutor

The old man standing on the western edge of the water in the Hero's Bath will teach the moveDraco Meteor to an eligible Pokémon in the player's party or in thePokémon Storage System. Unlike in previous games, it is no longer required that the selected Pokémon has maximumFriendship.

Hotel Ionia

Hotel Ionia is a lavish hotel located in the southern part of Circhester, on the northern side of the roundabout. It is split into a western building and an eastern building whose layouts are mirror images of each other. The hotel buildings each have a lobby and one accessible floor containing four hotel rooms which can be reached by taking an elevator from the lobby.

The two hotel rooms on the left in the western building are populated by NPCs based on the development team for Pokémon Sword and Shield atGAME FREAK. Once the player has become the Champion, aPolice Officer named Morimoto in the second room from the left will challenge the player to a dailyDouble Battle. He will also give the player anOval Charm the first time he is beaten. The game director, located in the leftmost room, will give the player aCatching Charm when first spoken to, and aShiny Charm once thePokédex has been completed. Morimoto and the game director are based on Game Freak'sShigeki Morimoto andShigeru Ohmori, respectively.

The player can undertake a small side quest in the second room from the left in the hotel's eastern building. A man named Howses is interrogating three suspects to determine who ate the hotel's basket of berries. After enlisting the player's assistance, Howses instructs the player to speak to each suspect and determine the culprit. ASkwovet belonging to one of the suspects then appears with berries in its mouth. After selecting the Skwovet as the culprit, the player receives aWide Lens from Howses for solving the case.

Bob's Your Uncle

Bob's Your Uncle is a restaurant located southwest of Circhester Stadium. After the player has defeated the Circhester Gym Leader,Sonia will invite the player andHop to eat there, discovering a lost tapestry fromHammerlocke vault from there in the process. According to aCook in the restaurant, he found it at an antique market.

Pokémon Center

The Pokémon Center is located in the southwestern corner of Circhester, and is the first building that the player arrives at upon entering the town fromRoute 8 to the south.

The man behind the left counter in the Pokémon Center performs the duties of theName Rater, memory reader,Move Reminder andMove Deleter. Unlike in previous games, making a Pokémon remember a move does not require the payment of aHeart Scale. The Pokémon Storage System can be accessed from theRotomi to the left of thePokémon Center lady's counter. ThisPC also enables access to theLoto-ID, as well asPoké Jobs and theLeague Card Maker.

Circhester debuted inShocking!! Reunion in the Forest, whereMelony switched turns with her sonGordie in leading theCirchester Stadium, with it being converted to match Gordie'sRock theme in the process.

InCrunch!! Snowy Battle,Professor Magnolia andCasey were seen relaxing at the Hero's Bath after arriving in the town. Later,Sonia visited Bob's Your Uncle to investigate the fifth tapestry from theHammerlocke vault.

InCracking!! Brilliant Tap-Dancing, Sonia met up withHenry and Casey, telling them about the statues found behind the mural atStow-on-Side and taking them to see the tapestry at Bob's Your Uncle. She theorized that both the statues and the tapestry had been hidden so that they would disappear from history.Afterwards, Henry challenged and successfully defeated Melony at the Circhester Stadium, allowing him to move on in hisGym Challenge.

InSplash!! The Return of the Two Pokémon, the disposal of the fifth tapestry was revealed to have been the work ofSordward andShielbert's family in order to hideZacian andZamazenta's role in Galar's history and make the family's ancestors seem like the true heroes.

The Hero's Bath in Circhester was introduced as aStadium card namedCirchester Bath in thePokémon Trading Card Game during the English Sword & Shield Series (the Japanese Sword & Shield Era). It was first released in the JapaneseAmazing Volt Tackle expansion before debuting in the EnglishVivid Voltage expansion, with artwork by5ban Graphics. As long as this Stadium card is in play, allBasic Pokémon in play take 20 less damage from attacks used by their opponent's Pokémon.
