History

Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver

Charla with Ash's Charizard

Charla is the only non-wild Pokémon in theCharicific Valley, as she belongs toLiza, who maintains the valley. She is Liza's only Pokémon, and her greatest partner, seeing as she travels with her to places outside the valley.

InCharizard's Burning Ambitions, whenAsh andhis friends were going through a mountain path near the Charicific Valley, they had the opportunity to meet Charla. Liza called upon her to help take Ash's friends to the Charicific Valley, with Ash having to take a ride on his ownCharizard to get there. When Ash's Charizard demanded to fight one more Charizard to prove that he was worthy of living in the valley, Charla was allowed to fight him, and promptly chucked him into a lake.

Charla made a brief cameo appearance inSpell of the Unown: Entei with Liza and other Charizard from the Charicific Valley. She and Liza were watching a live news report about the incident inGreenfield.

InGreat Bowls of Fire!, it was revealed that Ash's Charizard became Charla's bodyguard and that Charla has apparently fallen for him.

Pokémon the Series: Black & White

Charla appeared alongside Liza in a flashback inThe Fires of a Red-Hot Reunion!.

Personality and characteristics

Charla was considered to be Liza's most trusted Pokémon out of the other Charizard in the Charicific Valley. During her debut episode, Charla had very little trouble in showing her flying skills in contrast to Ash's Charizard when they first arrived in the Valley. Charla started to bond with Ash's Charizard during its stay at the Valley.

  • In her first appearance, she was much larger than Ash's Charizard. The next time the two were seen, she was the same size as it.
