Celadon University (Japanese:タマムシ大学Tamamushi University) is a university located inCeladon City. Celadon University is a special university which only children of primary school age can attend.
From March 1998 to February 1999, Shogakukan Learning Magazines ran apromotional campaign in which readers could enroll in the fictional university, and complete various exams to receive prizes. The university's crest—as shown in the commemorative items—consists of a Magikarp,Gyarados, and the Kanji 学gaku (meaning "to learn").
In the games
Celadon University does not appear in the games.
During theTamamushi University campaign, 30 players were awarded a specialMagikarp that knowsDragon Rage, based on their performance in the Professor Exam.
In animation
Celadon University is referred to several times inPokémon the Series: Gold and Silver. InChikorita's Big Upset,Nurse Joy mentioned that she studied a degree in Pokémon psychology at Celadon University. InFossil Fools, it was revealed thatProfessor Oak used to teach there, andFoster was one of his top students.
In the manga
Following the Magikarp giveaway, the University has appeared in two manga series:Pokémon: Yeah! I Got Pokémon! andPokémon Adventures. In both manga, the appearance of the building is closely based on the artwork from the Student ID Card and the Magikarp with Dragon Rage is referenced in some way.

Celadon University was first mentioned inSea Sea Seadra, whenBill said he'd be taking his report onViridian Forest's ecology there and proposing it to the university once it was finished.
Celadon University made its physical debut inWhacked by Marowak, whereErika was seen giving a lecture about the Dragon Rage Magikarp. She was offered a full-time job at the university by Professor Matsumoto, but she declined because of herGym Leader duties.

Pokémon: Yeah! I Got Pokémon!
Shu visited Celadon University inThe Challenge at Celadon University!. To enter the university building, one must answer an exam question.
The university has a large campus, consisting of a swimming pool, Chemical Research Laboratory, Pokémon Pharmaceutical Faculty, Pokémon Art faculty, a Pokémon Environmental Study Faculty, and the University Hospital, where Shu saved a Magikarp that knew Dragon Rage from aMachamp. A hospital worker awarded him with a university crest badge for his deed.

Entrants who completed theTamamushi University campaign's Hyper Professor Exam had a chance of being awarded the title "Hyper Professor". An exclusive Magikarp TCG promo card was given to Hyper Professors.
