Bullet Seed (Japanese:タネマシンガンSeed Machine Gun) is a damage-dealingGrass-typemultistrike move introduced inGeneration III.
It is:
- TM09 from Generation III toGeneration IV, and inPokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
- TM50 inPokémon Sword and Shield.
- TM056 inPokémon Scarlet and Violet.
- TM040 inPokémon Legends: Z-A
Effect
Bullet Seed inflicts damage, hitting the target 2-5 times per use.
Bullet Seed may continue attacking after breaking asubstitute.Bide will only acknowledge the last strike of this move.
Pokémon withSkill Link will always hit five times when using Bullet Seed unless it misses. Pokémon withBulletproof are immune to Bullet Seed.Sturdy will activate with each hit if the defending Pokémon has a maximum HP of 1. If the target hasWeak Armor orStamina, each strike will activate it.
If the user is holding aKing's Rock orRazor Fang, each consecutive hit has an equal chance to cause the opponent toflinch.
Generation III
Bullet Seed's base power is 10 per strike. There is a 37.5% chance that it will hit 2 times, a 37.5% chance that it will hit 3 times, a 12.5% chance that it will hit 4 times, and a 12.5% chance that it will hit 5 times. Each strike made has an equal chance to be acritical hit.
Bullet Seed is aspecial move.Mirror Coat will only acknowledge the last strike of this move.
Bullet Seed can be used as the second move of aPokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 2 bonus appeal points ifGrowth was used in the previous turn.
Generation IV
Bullet Seed is now aphysical move.Counter will only acknowledge the last strike of this move.
Generation V onwards
Bullet Seed's base power was increased from 10 to 25. There is now a 35% chance that it will hit 2 times, a 35% chance it will hit 3 times, a 15% chance it will hit 4 times, and a 15% chance it will hit 5 times. The average total base power is now 77.5.
If aFocus Sash activates before the last strike is dealt, the following strike will cause the defending Pokémon to faint. AFocus Band can still activate repeatedly to prevent fainting, but each chance is independent.
Bullet Seed can also be used as part of aContest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if the moveRototiller was used in the prior turn.

Bullet Seed inflicts damage, hitting the target 2-5 times per use. Each hit has a separate accuracy check, though the move will continue even when a hit fails. The move's critical-hit rate is reduced (2% in the Rescue Team, Explorers and Adventure Squad series).
Prior toGates to Infinity, if a targeted Pokémon faints in middle of the attack, the remaining projectiles will be able to hit a new target. Starting inSuper Mystery Dungeon, if aReviver Seed activates, the move will end.
