Effect

Bug Bite inflicts damage. If the target is holding aBerry, the user will eat the Berry and gain its effect. Bug Bite will not eat the target's Berry if it hits itssubstitute. Bug Bite will not consume the Berry of a target that has the AbilitySticky Hold.

Berries likeLiechi orSitrus Berries will be eaten by the attacker, regardless of them meeting their consumption requirement upon taking damage from Bug Bite.

Generation IV

If the user has the AbilityKlutz or is affected byEmbargo, it will consume the target's held Berry without gaining its effect. Bug Bite will eat the target'sJaboca andTanga Berries before the Berry can activate.

Generation V onwards

The user will now receive the effects of the target's held Berry even if it has the AbilityKlutz or is affected byEmbargo. The effect of aJaboca orTanga Berry will now activate before the Berry can be eaten.

Bug Bite will fail when used in aMax Raid Battle.
