Bucky used hisCaterpie in a race forDunsparce. Recently, he and his family went away to visit his sick grandfather. When they came back, all the kids in town had a Dunsparce, except Bucky, leaving him to want one too. When Bucky was asked by his friends to come to the park for a Dunsparce race, he told them he didn't have a Dunsparce, so instead he raced with his Caterpie and lost.

Later, Bucky used his Caterpie in a battle against a wild Dunsparce, in an attempt to catch it. Caterpie used its String Shot and Tackle to successfully weaken it.

Bucky wanted to catch aDunsparce as all the kids from his town had caught one while he was out of town. Bucky was asked by his friends to come to the park for a Dunsparce race, but he told them he didn't have a Dunsparce. He raced with hisCaterpie instead and lost.

After the race,Ash andhis friends decided to help Bucky to look for one. While searching on a plain,Ash's Pikachu andMisty's Togepi spotted one. Suddenly,Team Rocket appeared and wanted to steal the gang's Pokémon. They were easily defeated and blasted off again, but they unintentionally took a Dunsparce with them. Team Rocket closely observed it and decided to use it in a scheme to steal Bucky's friends' precious Dunsparce.

They successfully managed to do this at first, but later Ash and his friends, including Bucky's friends, found Team Rocket and sent them blasting off. In the end, Bucky used his Caterpie in a battle against the Dunsparce they had spotted earlier. Caterpie used itsString Shot andTackle to successfully weaken it, and Bucky then proceeded to capture it.
