Body Press (Japanese:ボディプレスBody Press) is a damage-dealingFighting-typemove introduced inGeneration VIII. It wasTR99 inPokémon Sword and Shield, and isTM089 inPokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Effect

Body Press inflicts damage, but it uses the user'sDefense stat instead of itsAttack stat to calculate damage.

The user's Defense stat stage-modifiers are applied (rather than Attack stage-modifiers), but otherwise its Attack modifiers are used (includingheld item,Ability, andburn). For example, the user'sHuge Power or a heldChoice Band will increase the stat used in calculation, whereasFur Coat or a heldEviolite will not. In the same vein,Slow Start orDefeatist candecrease the stat used in calculation, whereasSword of Ruin cannot.
