Blueberry Academy (Japanese:ブルーベリー学園Blueberry Academy) is a school located in the seas of theUnovaregion.[1] It is featured inThe Indigo Disk expansion ofPokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is a sister school toNaranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV located inPaldea'sMesagoza.

The Indigo Disk

Unlike the historicNaranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV, Blueberry Academy was established in recent years somewhere inUnova's ocean, being accessed through an undersea tunnel. The academy's curriculum puts a particular emphasis onPokémon battling, with all the students and staff members specializing inDouble Battles. Additionally, most of its building is located under the ocean, including the classrooms and the famousTerarium. The school uses its own currency, referred to asBlueberry Points, or BP for short.

FollowingBriar's research into theTerastal phenomenon inPaldea andKitakami, she created the Terarium Core, a huge glass orb hanging in the ceilling of the Terarium. Filled with Paldean soil and water from Kitakami'sCrystal Pool, it spreadsTerastal energy across the academy, enabling students withTera Orbs and certainwild Pokémon there to use the Terastal phenomenon. After the main story ofThe Indigo Disk has been completed, Briar upgrades the Terarium Core with crystals collected from theArea Zero Underdepths, causing wildStellar Tera Type Pokémon to start appearing in the Terarium.

The player is offered into the academy as an exchange student byCyrano.

League Club

TheLeague Club (Japanese:リーグ部League Club) is a student organization that emulates the functions of aPokémon League within Blueberry Academy, based out of theLeague Club Room. They use a ranking system called theBB League (Japanese:ブルベリーグBlueberry League), whose top five ranking members make up theBB League Elite Four andBB League Champion. The BB League Champion also serves as president of the League Club.

A challenger must clear an Elite Four member'sElite Trial before being allowed to challenge them. Despite being an exchange student, the player is granted the right to challenge the BB League after a majority vote in support from the Elite Four and Champion, which also lets them bypass the lower ranks of the League and become immediately eligible to attempt the Elite Four's trials.

Origin

Blueberry Academy may be inspired by the Dragon Palace from the Japanese folktaleUrashima Tarō. In the tale, the Dragon Palace is described as being underwater and having a garden where scenery from all four seasons could be seen at once.[2] Similarly, Blueberry Academy is located partially underwater with the Terarium biomes representing each of the four seasons. This is shown by the presence of all four forms ofSawsbuck within the Terarium, one per each biome (Spring: Savanna, Summer: Coastal, Autumn: Canyon, Winter: Polar).

Here was to be seen at one time the scenery of the four different seasons; the beauties of summer and winter, spring and autumn, were displayed to the wondering visitor at once.First, when he looked to the east, the plum and cherry trees were seen in full bloom, the nightingales sang in the pink avenues, and butterflies flitted from flower to flower.Looking to the south all the trees were green in the fullness of summer, and the day cicala and the night cricket chirruped loudly.Looking to the west the autumn maples were ablaze like a sunset sky, and the chrysanthemums were in perfection.Looking to the north the change made Urashima start, for the ground was silver white with snow, and trees and bamboos were also covered with snow and the pond was thick with ice.
