Bettie (Japanese:ユイYui) is the femaleplayer character inPokémon Masters EX. Her male counterpart isScottie.
Along with herpartnerPikachu, Bettie explores the land ofPasio to compete in thePokémon Masters League. Bettie also formssync pairs with other Pokémon during her adventures, includingTorchic,Solgaleo,Regirock,Cobalion,Mesprit,Registeel,Alcremie,Raikou, andBuzzwole as well as various Pokémon hatched fromEggs.
In the games
PML Arc
Bettie arrives on the artifical island ofPasio, looking to compete in thePokémon Masters League, she gets gifted aPoryphone fromTrista and forms a team withBrock andMisty. The trio travel across the reigon to find new teammates such asRosa, and to collect the fivePML Badges required to participate.
On her travels she meetsProfessor Bellis, a researcher specializing inSync pairs such as her. She learns about the villainousTeam Break and how they're causing trouble across the island, Bettie helps put a stop to their plans whenever she can. She also forms a rivalry withPaulo, a student with a strong sense of justice and high expectations for himself, andLear, an arrogant prince who is motivated by becoming the future heir to the throne, being raised strictly to view Pokémon as mere tools and failing to form a true bond with them.
Bettie learns aboutSygna suits when Brock wears one to help in the upcoming tournament. During one of the breaks, she ends up helpingRising Star Stella in finding her lost Torchic, and is gifted her secondTorchic to raise. She wins in battles against various trainers to rise up the tournament bracket, including Paulo and Lear.
Her group ends up winning the PML after a hard fought battle againtsRed,Blue, andLeaf. When Lear announces a second PML at the awards ceremony, she is surprised at first, but is excited to participate again.
Villain Arc
After her victory in the PML, Bettie gets involved in stopping variousvillainous teams, such asTeam Rocket,Team Galactic, and theAether Foundation. She also meets Paulo's childhood friend inTina, who immediately get along well together.
While this is happening, Paulo is going through a series of self confidence issues. This reaches a breaking point where Paulo ends up taking over Team Break with Lear'sHoopa, bringing matters into his own hands and trying to disband other teams with force.
Bettie confronts Paulo about his extreme methods before being defeated and dismissed, as Paulo plans a large-scale attack on Team Rocket. This ends up backfiring with Giovanni appealing to Hoopa and forming a Sync Pair with it. Things go from bad to worse as Giovanni uses Hoopa's newfound power to wreak havoc across the island.
With the aid ofProfessor Oak, Bettie, Paulo and Tina make amends and set out to stop Team Rocket. The other villainous team leaders are able to help create openings for the trio to reach Giovanni at the stadium. They enact a plan to save Hoopa by using a machine invented byColress that reverts Hoopa to its Confined state. This succeeds and Giovanni retreats for the time being.
Arceus Arc
After saving the reigon from Team Rocket's plan, Bettie decides to aid in research of themysterious stones suddenly appearing across the region. Learning of their unique properties and power, Bettie is invited to demonstrate the potential applications to the public. During the demonstration, a bright light envelops the stadium and tells everyone to "Show me thy bond."
Other
Sometime during Betties journey, she helps various people recruit legendary Pokemon such asSilver withHo-Oh,Zinnia withRayquaza, andProfessor Sycamore withXerneas. She also recruits aSolgaleo for her own team after working withHau andRoxie
She becomes friends with various sync pairs across the island and hasnumerous conversations and training sessions with them, whether it be planned or coincidental. She is often seen helping Lear,Rachel, andSawyer with island maintaining duties, and is an active user of facilities like theTrainer Lodge andBattle Villa.
Professor Bellis offers her opportunities to pair up with new Pokémon, such as anEgg containing one ofKantosfirst partner Pokémon. She can also choose to pair up with one of many differentAlcremie variants.
