Release information

This card was one of theSM Black Star Promos available in a pack given to customers who bought $25 of TCG products at select retailers starting November 8, 2017. Packs would contain 3 of 6 promotional cards and were available in-store atGameStop inthe United States andEB Games inCanada andAustralia, and online fromTarget,Toys "R" Us,Walmart, and the onlinePokémon Center. Inthe United Kingdom andIreland, it was given away in the same packs atGAME,Waterstones, andSmyths stores for purchasing £19.99/€19.99 worth of TCG products, starting March 16, 2018. In Japan, this card was available as aSM-P Promotional card as part of theAsh's Pikachu GET Campaign, which began on June 16, 2017. For every five booster packs purchased in one transaction at participating store chains selling advance tickets forI Choose You!, customers would receive a special pack containing 1 of 6 possible promotional cards. These chains included APiTA, Piago, ÆON, Ito-Yokado, Toys "R" Us, Fuji, and HEIWADO, as well as Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores. 7-Eleven stores were specifically excluded. Both campaigns ran for as long as stocks lasted. The movie logo is featured in the bottom right corner of the illustration in both prints.

This card features Pikachu wearing Ash's cap as seen in theoriginal series, and is based on one of thePikachu in a cap distributed in the run-up to the release of the movieI Choose You!.
