Anela (Japanese:モアニMoani) is a recurring character inPokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. She is a friend ofAsh's Incineroar and runs a fruit stall in theHau'oli City marketplace.

History

Anela debuted inFirst Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, where she providedLitten someBerries. After spotting a flock ofPikipek,Trumbeak, andRowlet fly overhead, she explained to Litten that the flock visits the market every year to collect food. Anela happily donated some fruit to theFlying-type Pokémon.

InThat's Why the Litten is a Scamp!‬, Anela provided Litten with some more Berries and explained toAsh andProfessor Kukui that Litten does this every day.

InOne Journey Ends, Another Begins..., Anela picked up a doughnut that had fallen out of Ash'sbag. She went to give it back to Ash only for Litten to grab it and run off. Ash also visited her followingStoutland's disappearance. Anela gave him some Berries to deliver to Litten and instructed him to tell Litten it could come to the marketplace anytime.

Anela has attended multiple events at thePokémon School, including the Family Visit Day inAlolan Open House! and the school play inLillier and the Staff!.

Ash andhis friends often visit Anela's fruit stall, where she offers them and their Pokémon bowls of produce free of charge, like inThe Ol' Raise and Switch! andWe Know Where You're Going, Eevee!. InAlola, Alola!, she metMisty who was visitingAlola and laughed afterPsyduck swallowed a watermelon whole.

She attended Professor Kukui andProfessor Burnet's wedding inThe Professors' New Adventure!.

In thebanned episodeSM064, Anela got to meet Litten for the first time after its Evolution intoTorracat and gave it someSitrus Berries to eat. She also witnessed a fight between two groups ofPassimian.

InAll They Want to Do is Dance Dance!, Anela's name was finally revealed byMallow. Anela met Mallow andSteenee in the market place where she gave Steenee some fruit and watched as it danced. She went on to show Mallow the Hula Dance and brought out herOricorio to perform it on the street, which inspired Mallow and Steenee to do it for their upcoming Pokémon Dance performance. She was invited to the Pokémon School for a Pokémon Dance presentation, where it was revealed that she used to be aDancer. She was later trapped byTeam Rocket and watched as Steeneeevolved intoTsareena.

InDummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, Anela offered an apple to a shrunkenSophocles and hisTogedemaru, before Ash andLillie arrived at her stall.

InSecuring the Future!, Anela joined the rest of Alola in showeringNecrozma with light so it could return to itstrue form.

InLiving on the Cutting Edge!, Anela had her fruit cut by aKartana. She later explained the incident to Ash, who was searching for Kartana. She then gave some sliced fruit to him and his Pokémon to enjoy.

Character

Anela has an affable and generous personality, as shown through herfriendship withLitten. She is a community-minded individual and enjoys an event-filled calendar outside of her role as a greengrocer. InReal Life...Inquire Within!, she deliveredBerries toNurse Joy after learning that she was unwell. Anela often givesAsh,his friends and their Pokémon bowls of fruit, free of charge, when they visit her stall. This comes from Anela's generous heart and her love and respect for nature, often citing that nature's bounty is for everyone to share and enjoy.

Oricorio,nicknamed (JapaneseドリちゃんDori-chan), is Anela's only known Pokémon. It first appeared inAll They Want to Do is Dance Dance!, where it was used to helpMallow's Steenee perfect her dance for Mallow's upcoming dancing class at thePokémon School. It and its Trainer later gave a Pokémon Dance presentation beforeAsh andhis classmates.

Dori-chan reappeared inSecuring the Future!, where she joined the rest of Alola in showeringNecrozma with light so it could return to itstrue form.

None of Oricorio's moves are known.
