Aether Base
AnAether Base is a small hospital-like building constructed to help study and protect hurt Pokémon. They are one of the many known bases of theAether Foundation located in theAlolaregion. There are two known locations, one onAkala Island'sRoute 8 and another onUla'ula Island'sRoute 16. A smaller location found inHeahea City also exists in the same building asGAME FREAK's offices nextdoor to theDimensional Research Lab.
They all share theAether House track title that plays in the background.
Design
Aether Bases are small rectangular buildings made to resemble a pet hospital. The insides are often small and cramped. They often contain a table and multiple red cages to place Pokémon. Aether Foundation branded stretchers are sometimes placed on walls. The red cages frequently have Pokémon walking around them inPokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. They all contain a set of rooms inaccessible to the player, with several beds. They are similar in appearance internally toAether Paradise's Secret Labs.

Heahea City

Next door to theDimensional Research Lab, an office building is found containingGAME FREAK's office and an office room for the Aether Foundation. This upper floor acts similar to an Aether Base and a smaller headquarters building for theAether Foundation. This office room is mostly white matching the aesthetic of the other bases andAether Paradise. It contains fiveAether Foundation Employees and onescientist. If the player chooses to come here, it is their first potential exposure to the Aether Foundation, and the two employees at the service desk will explain that their purpose is to help protect Pokémon who may have been hurt. Two other employees at the tables on the left specifically mention that they are looking for ways to help Pokémon who may have been affected byTeam Skull. The room serves no functionality other than world building and introductory to the Aether Foundation. It serves as one of two bases found onAkala Island, the other being onRoute 8.
Route 8

Also onAkala Island, an Aether Base is found on Route 8. This is first real Aether Base location that theplayer encounters. In this location there is two Aether Foundation Employees as well as a maleRising Star. One of the employees will ask to see a completedPokédex entry belonging toStufful so that they could add it to their research. If done so, they will reward the player withmoney. The other Aether Employee and the Rising Star will be at the table studying aSlowpoke who was apparently hurt byTeam Skull by slashing it's tail off and is now growing back to normal.
Underneath this Aether Base, is aRotomPoké Finder spot with aYungoos appearing during the day and anAlolanRattata during the night.
Route 16

The Aether Base located on the east part of Route 16 houses theReassembly Unit, which can assemble and separateZygarde usingZygarde Cells andCores from theZygarde Cube. The base is inhabited by a single scientist. InPokémon Sun and Moon, the player will meetDexio andSina when they first enter the facility. While inPokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Dexio and Sina only appear after the player has caught Zygarde inResolution Cave. Dexio will challenge the player to a battle, using a 10% Forme Zygarde as part of his team. Once Dexio is defeated he gifts the player his Zygarde, an explanation of how to use the Reassembly Unit, and a Zygarde Cube containing 40 Cells, for a total of 50.
