ALEGO Set is a building kit that contains numerous LEGObricks and other elements to assemble one or more objects andminifigures. Some sets may be assembled in various ways to allow the assembly of different models using bricks from one set. All bricks are compatible with bricks from other sets. All sets are categorized inthemes.

History[]

In1935, 3 years afterOle Kirk Christiansen starts producing wood toys, the first wooden toy sets are released, them being theLEGO Duck and theWooden Train. The first set to employ the numbering system was500 LEGO Klodser in1948, and the first sets to use plastic bricks were theAutomatic Binding Bricks sets in1949. By1953, the Automatic Binding Bricks are renamed to LEGO Mursten ("LEGO Bricks") byGodtfred Kirk Christiansen and they become the first official LEGO themed sets. A warehouse fire consumes most of LEGO's inventory of wood toys on February1960, thus the production of wooden toys is discontinued and the company changes its focus to make plastic building bricks and use them in sets. Over the course of the next few years, more themes are introduced, some notable ones beingDUPLO,TECHNIC (formerly Expert Builder),Town,Space,Castle, andPirates, among many others. In1999, LEGO launches and produces a Star Wars theme with Lucasfilm, making the first official licensed sets and beginning a trend of licensed LEGO products, with more licensed themes being introduced. The Star Wars theme also introduced battle pack sets, which usually include 4 minifigures and a few side builds.2012 was an especially important year for LEGO as it brought upon the introduction of theSuper Heroes andMinecraft themes, the latter bringing the first licensed sets to be based on a video game. The future introduction of thePokémon theme will mark the first licensed sets to based on an anime series.
