Mary of Bethany is a significant figure in the New Testament, known for her devotion to Jesus Christ. She is the sister of Martha and Lazarus, and the family resides in the village of Bethany, near Jerusalem. Biblical Accounts

1.Sitting at Jesus' Feet (Luke 10:38-42): In this passage, Jesus visits the home of Mary and Martha. While Martha is busy with the preparations, Mary chooses to sit at Jesus' feet, listening to His teaching. Martha, concerned with the tasks at hand, asks Jesus to tell Mary to help her. Jesus responds, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things. But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:41-42). This account highlights Mary's desire to prioritize spiritual nourishment over worldly concerns.

2.The Raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-44): Mary and Martha send word to Jesus that their brother Lazarus is ill. When Jesus arrives in Bethany, Lazarus has already died. Mary, deeply grieving, goes to meet Jesus and falls at His feet, saying, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died" (John 11:32). Jesus, moved by her sorrow, weeps with her and subsequently raises Lazarus from the dead. This event demonstrates Mary's faith in Jesus' power and her deep emotional connection to Him.

3.Anointing of Jesus (John 12:1-8): Six days before the Passover, Jesus visits Bethany again, and a dinner is held in His honor. Mary takes a pound of expensive perfume made of pure nard and anoints Jesus' feet, wiping them with her hair. The house is filled with the fragrance of the perfume. Judas Iscariot criticizes her for what he perceives as wastefulness, but Jesus defends her actions, saying, "Leave her alone; she has kept this perfume in preparation for the day of My burial" (John 12:7). This act of anointing signifies Mary's recognition of Jesus' impending death and her willingness to honor Him with her most valuable possession.
